The embroidered fabric is an antique sandwich wrap Emily era 1920's. It has an oriental Tori gate with trees that then has a Zen garden scene. So it is likely to remind the person eating their lunch/meal to relax as though you are at an Asian park entrance . where you enter through the gate and find solitude and peace at the Zen garden. I found some while living in Japan during the mid 1970's. A very rare find, I am so happy you bought them. They sell anywhere from $7.50 to $20 each.

Without the blue eyes, the head would be too Michael Myers from "Halloween." WITH the blue eyes, however, it's just a goofy head. I know Jesse will find some way to use it in a fun manner. He seems silly like that (in a good way).

That little wood candle holder was made by artist Dixie Wajdic. She is from Lakeside Montana by Flathead Lake and these pieces are made from old cedar fence posts. She is very prolific and I would not be surprised if that number reflects it being the 1806th piece she has made.

She showed me how to make little rocking chair with a pin cushion seat out of a soda can. She rolled strips of the can to make quite a fancy looking chair. That was in 1967. Blessings, Janell

I favor the idea of napkins for an afternoon tea, as there were so many of them. I think the embroidery represents a garden structure, probably a tea house. A roofed structure with open air sides that is useful but also provides an eye catching point of interest to the landscape. Always more fun with Jesse around! This is the best series!

Jesse often verbalizes what I am thinking at the same moment. I was thinking “grenade” lamp when he mentioned it. Loved the East Salem/ Salem discussion. We live in SE Idaho. There's a small town called Preston, ID and ten miles west is another town called Weston. We crack up every time we pass the mileage sign on the freeway. 😊 Love this series! You two are like a great comedy team.

I would never use those napkins as napkins either. I would use them under items that you may have on your buffet. We used to use like lace runners or doilies under certain things on our buffet and I just think that you could stage those really well laura, I couldn't but you could! 😊

Tin art was popular in the mid 70’s. We actually collected old beer cans to make lanterns and votive candles in art class. The projected light from them was pretty neat. Love when you and Jessie shop together!!

My Mom did the tin can art back in the late 60’s, still have a pin cushion chair of the stuff. The whiskey decanter with Ruidoso Downs Million Dollar Horse Race, I couldn’t believe it! I live there and was super surprised to see that way up in the Northwest! How awesome is that!

I’ve been laughing like crazy watching you two talk about the candle holder with the wick in it! It reminds me of a line from Back To The Beach. Annette and Frankie’s son says to them “It’s quite a piece of dialogue when you two intellectual giants get together, I should be writing this down!” Love your videos!

That radio @ 22:13 is one that I've had just about forever. My dad pulled the innards out around 1956 & was used as a storage cabinet. I have in my dining room now.

I am loving this series! I love when Jesse comes with you, also. I think the “napkins” are handkerchiefs. They look like the kind my mother and grandmother made before tissues were prevalent (or even invented, lol).

I believe the napkins were luncheon napkins and were popular in the 1930s and early 1940. Sometimes there was a matching tablecloth. Ladies would get together around lunchtime, have sandwiches and tea at cardtables, then spend the afternoon playing Bridge or cardgames.
