You democratically elect a person to represent you who then goes on to make laws for you (Republic) and at times you can even VOTE for a law or provision (like in Kansas where people voted on a provision that allowed Aborshion to be legal under the Kansas constitution), the representatives in the republic of Kansas didn't just pass that law. You have millions of town hall meetings where citizens gather, discuss, and at many times are allowed to democratically vote on an issue (like school boards). Democracy is EMBEDDED into our Republic. This isn't hard to understand, idk where this came from.

Thomas Jefferson, in his initial draft of the Declaration of Independence, included a passage that condemned the British monarchy for its role in the transatlantic slave trade. This passage accused King George III of waging "cruel war against human nature itself, violating its most sacred rights of life & liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere." Thomas Jefferson fought our first international war and founded the marine corps to stop slavery in northern Africa. It's pretty clear despite the complications of the situation that the founding fathers were anti slavery.

Almost all current politicians refer to the US as "our democracy". I cringe every time.

@@eliasmontanez To be fair, your first comment quite easily imitated a "troll." It offered no critical thinking, and so I blew the same material I received right back to the sender. I am not against the idea of this being propaganda. However I enjoy hearing an open discussion over the topic, and not some narrative drilled down my spine as is today's society. I am of the opinion the comment that sparked this doesn't help bring about an open mind. It's a polarizing statement. I've found the opposite view being vocalized helps depolarize the space, and thus allows an open conversation to commence again. So in short, apologies to you, yet no apologies to the statement.

As a german, I said it often and I say it again: The founding fathers were absolute geniuses. If you Americans don't protect their spiritual heritage, expect your downfall. there is a fundamental universal truth that applies to germans as well, written within the united states declaration of independence: all people are born into nature, under nature's god. with a natural liberty. this is to say that it is impossible to be be born german, to be born into germany, or to automatically be german due to parental nationality. in the same way that it is impossible to be born communist or to automatically be a communist baby just because your parents are. we freely associate to nations after we are born, as natural citizens do. this is why birth certificates are unlawful as tools for "proof of citizenship" and why the mentality of "i was born a citizen of x" or "i am a citizen of y because i have these parents and not because of anything i have done after i was born" ... that's why those ways of thinking are bad: they are an impossibility in the natural world and create an entire section of people who have no access to paperwork and who are told they dont exist, or a mass of people who are told they must identify as this or that nationality... regardless of who they actually are in the real world. regardless of their language, regardless of their community history, contributions, personal knowledge of a nation's history, and of course their own darned allegiance towards anyone!

This should be on PBS twice daily and also schools every grade k-12 listen children this man speaks the truth

A Republic is by definition…. democratic. Therefore, to state ‘Democratic Republic’ is the same as ‘Republic’. To which for of Republic however?

Ayn Rand warned us 70 years ago of the chains of helping others and expectation they will help you in return will destroy the western world. We can only be responsible for our own actions and strive to live life to the best of our own ability. If we wish to help others it is a selfish act not a selfless act. The expectation of reward from others when you do something good is evil. This is how we grow to resent others when they do not reward us as we see fit. The left is the person who is lazy does not do the work and expects others to do it because they are oppressed by society. It is a disease that is straggling America and the freedoms of others. As a country we have no moral obligation to the world. They must themselves act selfishly and grow to the best of their ability.

Every government agent, politician, sheriff, governor, mayor, judge, D.A., General, Admiral, Soldier, needs to see this.

If only our world held still when I was four when this was filmed. Not that I can't age, what he's saying was occurring then and it should have been stopped. I remember feeling weird because of the turmoil and couldn't understand it. Maybe after MLK was shot I remember feeling that way, two years later.

I choose not to pledge allegiance to a system that doesn’t allow freedom of association, does explicitly allow eminent domain and quartering of troops on my private property, which proves it doesn’t honor the principle of individual liberty. As well as being indivisible, which doesn’t allow for secession

@Tom Earnest Until recently it was only the odd person who ocassionally referred to the U.S. as a democracy. Now it seems most every politician and the people themselves say it. My point is it must be by design. Look how often the socialists redefine words; so often it is a gallnark of them. Remove knowledge of history, redefine words, substitute words as if they are synonymous, these are the means of the socialists. George Orwell also spoke if this. Premier Khrushchev of the USSR said this is how they would bring communism to America without firing a shot. Look around to see if it isn't so today.

If they are so easily willing to disconnect themselves from you, or any of us in like circumstances, they aren't worth knowing. We all need friends, but not fair weather friends, same goes for family. Myself for instance who was shunned aside simply because I have a couple disabilities. Family with big homes, occupied by an Aunt. But when my mom & husband died, was she there to help me after I loss my home, no of course not. Family who doesn't help one another my be blood, but that's all. My dad said, During our lives we will have hundreds of acquaintences, & if we secure 2 or 3 friends (those are the one who are there for you thru think & thin, good times & bad) count yourself lucky! And BTW, it's not necessary to declare your skin color, cuz those who care aren't worth their salt. The only thing that matters is who you are, inside. Never forget the immortal words of Martain L. King jr who said " judge a man by his Character, not his skin color!" And regardless of your religious beliefs, the Ten Commandments is a good list of rules, & the 7 deadly sins should be avoided. If everyone made an effort in that regard, the world would be a pretty nice place, maybe even Heaven on Earth.

​@@CampConstitution Wow this explains why they eventually got rid of the pledge of allegiance to make us forget that our founding fathers declared we are a Republic not a democracy. Just wow it's scary to see how far our government has fallen. Saying we are a democracy is very wrong.

A true awakening is growing in America, one that in my individual opinion, drawn solely from my own ingestion of all information mainstream and otherwise from my own country and others all around the world shall prove unquestionably the absolute need of core values seemingly long forgotten. I pray nightly for the return of value and morals to a land that I love unfalteringly and the isolationist Republic that was at one point lead by the citizens that created it. Last I pray for any and everyone of my countrymen whether or not we share any beliefs or goals or hopes and dreams. Please always remember that here a man is free to choose the path and meaning of his own life, but also equally important if not even more so that no man shall direct another man's life or beliefs it is not their place. I remember Dan Smoot from my younger years. Smart guy. Every parent and teacher in this country should have listened and taken him seriously. If they had this country could have been spared much grief. We'll get there, though. 45 in '24.
