Guys you made me understand why "masterpiece" is a word in the English language.... Your campaign is truly amazing... Words can't even begin to convey how great it really is! When i was little i pirated the game (wc3) ... And so when i bought reforged i didn't refund it but never even downloaded it.... But your campaign made me get it... Well... And as i've said... Your campaign waaaaaay outweighs any problems reforged has... As blizz would never be able to match your great design anyways... I can't thank you enough!!?

I remember I used to play some Starcraft 2 mod that emulated Warcraft 3. A guy singlehandly was running the project. It was 10000 times better than The Reforge. It was way before Reforged was announced.

im pretty sure that's completely due to the fact that starcraft probably has better functioning pathing overall warcraft 3's pathing has been flawed since it was created lol if you dont really get what i mean you can check even now and send a group of units from one end of the map to the other and i guarantee they'll get stuck on a random tree line that their pathing decided to not go around reforged never fixed this among *other* pathing problems the game has always had all it did was give us better graphics lol

Also I hope that since Microsoft owns Blizzard now they will not enforce that stupid EULA that everything made with with Warcraft 3 World Editor is owned by them and they can just yonkied this, leaving the creators without any credit for their work.

I think another contender for Warcraft 3: Reforged is Path Of The Damned/Blood Elves/Thrall Campign Revamp versions. They all have quality of life changes and revamp the races to fit their narrative. Undead now raise their enemies units during combat to fight again, they're permanent and are different from their counterparts. However, they will lose in a straight up 1v1 so you need to continue the production of them. Blood Elves are now mana addicts in recovery, Naga is balanced and Draenai are playable. Thrall now chooses his units before every mission, he can choose a Warsong Grunt that has lower health but more damage with Critical Strike and etc.

I love those campaigns from Sevenblood! Extremely good stuff, the Scourge campaign I think is an absolute masterpiece.

Well in terms of content, yes. But Sevenblood uses the old graphics, which is prolly why it isn't in this video. They still are, pretty awesome re-enditions of the campaign though.

There were no Wtii Snake impressions this episode. Current drystreak: 2 It's weird, because sometimes the Reforged graphics look great but other times. The framerate stuff never helps too. Also you're wrong about Warcraft II. XD

I remember when reforged came out and Blizz announced proprietary ownership over all custom maps/gamemodes (hoping not to miss out on another cash cow like Dota/Dota 2 even though HotS was doing fine before they killed it anyway to divert its team to strangle a different golden goose with overwatch 2) and everyone was sure we’d never see any decent custom campaigns because of it, but I’m glad to have been proven wrong because these custom campaigns are brimming with love and effort

I bought Reforged as soon as it got announced since WC3 was part of my youth, but the models never sat right with me. Honest I never understood why they didn't keep the style from Heroes of the Storm since it had more of that Warcraft style feeling to it.

You’d think Blizzard would’ve implemented the same legacy toggle as the Diablo 2 remaster. Or added a modern keybinding system like HOTS has. Or finally given us the earlier Warcraft campaigns. It’s such awful workmanship compared to everything else next to it.

@@TheRestedOne Alot of questions about the reforge still up in the air, one of mine is how come they didn't add some kind of cooldown or spellpower data for the map editor, it would make some really outstanding maps

I think additionally with these two campaigns, people may not know but there are other high quality campaigns available in the hive workshop that could make older players want to try those out such as the Revamped Campaign by Sevenblood, or the other original campaigns that creates a campaign from other warcraft stories like the Rise of the Blood Elves and Curse of the Forsaken by tomoraider. Hive workshop has a bunch of other campaigns worth playing, some of them like the campaigns by tomoraider even uses a different tech tree and can be rather difficult to give new and experienced players a breath of fresh air

There is also the War of the Spider, a fully voiced act campaign that is very high quality campaign available for Reforged. TBH just like before, the community is what is keeping WC3 alive and well (despite the attempts by blizzard ruin that with bugs, missing features or trying to steal all custom content as their own).

I am sorry, WTii, but I think the reasons you listed here are the reasons to... *cough cough You know, get the reforged 🏴‍☠️

@@LegendStormcrow yeah wc3 felt claustrophobic to not be able to sail the open seas. What upset me the most though was that they removed bridges going from wc1 to wc2.

Two very excellent projects, that have a lot more content planned and in the works.

In truth, I bought Reforged primarily for the sake of models that could be used in creating 3D animations (SFM, Blender, etc.). They are ideal for this.

Well done! I'm playing through Re-Reforged now and am looking forward to Chronicles of the Second War!

Another released project just as big and impressive is The Heart of Storms. In fact it's even more since the visuals have been entirely remade WITHOUT Reforged. You can play it with the old warcraft 3 (and should since it's more stable).

I only bought Reforged because as a kid I spent ages on a cracked version of WC3. Out of respect for those years, I did spend money on WC3 a decade later, even if it was just crappy Reforged.

I think I realized what's the problem with new models. There is of course the obvious, but if you pay attention to them, their full of shadows and no light on them to bring out highlights. The old models used simple colors and textures with depth to bring out art, but these models don't have gradient textures, and are models for a 3rd person game. You need to have good shadows and light sources to bring out those details. I wonder if there was a way to add RTX to the game, if that would help fix some of the reforged art.

The only reason to buy it is to play custom maps and experience fun multiplayer game with active community

the thing about reforged is that if someone had the talent or the AI skills, all it would need would be the textures converted into samwize didier's comic book style from war 3 and HOTS or pick the HOTS models and convert to reforged

Customs being ALIVE and communities like WTii's is the main reason to buy reforged.

I remember that the only reason why i bough reforged was for me to be able to play wc3, since i lost the original copy of the game i had on a disk years ago, i remember getting wc3 on the cd for my 12th or 14th birthday, i sadly lost it recently *i'm 18 now* bought WCIII but sadly never really enjoyed it, the graphics seem off to me, the entire reforged is nothing more than a remaster instead of a reforged that i expected + the community online... is quite toxic. I remember joining a random lobby in some kind of a MOBA custom map or Trolls vs Elves, i remember asking for some advice in the lobby chat and i was met with insults for being a noob in a game i've never played proffesionaly and only played it for fun lol. I'd love to instal reforged again to try these campaigns out but the online community + tower rushers really demotivate me to do so

i really wish that someone imported all the reforged models into Starcraft 2, sure, there is currently models of the original WC3, and i even seen a SC2 vs WC3 map. But these new models do look like they fit in the Starcraft 2 engine and art style. Could be a reason to buy reforged just for the models.

I just wish I could get those slick as hell models from those projects just In the base game, so I could ladder with 'em, lmao.

So what do you get with Warcraft. Does it come with Frozen throne like back in the day? Those it come with Tower Defence like back in the day? These are some of the things im curious about, because if it's only SP and MP then im not really that interested. I miss the old days with Frozen throne the variety in what you could play

You get both ROC/TFT & the original Custom maps like Azure Tower Defense or Blizzard Tower Defense. Both campaigns are played with TFT balance though (Tax/Army stats etc)

For anyone readings this, does the new W3 game have the old fun custom gamemodes like Hero defense?

Ive had this exact thought in my mind. The main issue is that none of the money from purchasing reforged actually goes to the mod developers who are giving their work away for free. It just feels like a huge undeserved service to blizzard and disservice to the modders.

To be fair ... reforged may not have gone the way we wanted it to .. but at very lest there gave us "some what working severs" and alloweing us to play this game ones more i still like warcraft3 .. i would like a warcraft4 .. idk if we would ever get it but still its nice to think of .

A much more compelling reason to not buy reforged: You are giving Blizzard your money after they already spit in your face.

The new models suck compared to the art style from 2004, a shame though cause it had potential to be amazing.

Lua support and new API's allow for really cool maps to be created in Reforged, I think Reforged has revitalized WC3 mapping community to a certain extent, so it may be worth buying it if you're interested in WC3 mapping scene. Though if you're a modder thinking about creating your cool new game in Reforged, perhaps don't implement your killer app ideas there, since Blizzard is gonna own them according to the new Terms of Service

I've seen it go on sale for $15 a few times, it's 100% worth $15

I've just waited for Reforged to get discounted low enough and bought it just to play re-reforged.

So... Reason to buy Reforged. Actually not much other than access to community creations. Sad

It's so sad that we have to rely on modders and creators outside of Blizzard to actually deliver epic quality games nowadays. I can honestly say that Re-Reforged is amazing and exactly what it should have been. I've not played the Chronicles of the Second War, but also looks epic.

To be honest these are the only reasons why i am still playing Reforged.

It's not hard to see why developers across the board in AAA games cannot be bothered to put in any effort anymore. Starcraft 2 is a wildly successful RTS game, one of the best ever made. A 15 dollars horse skin for World of Warcraft out sold it. So while i hate to blame gamers. you are also part of the problem, actions have consequences. If you just give developers money for low effort things, they aren't gonna put in effort to make or remake games.

I love warcraft II and Warcraft III is my favorite RTS of all time. And I would love to play Warcraft II on Warcraft III engine, IF ONLY THE DAMNED THING WORKED. and it is not any fault of the mod, that crap reforged still crashes everytime someone misses the original for more than a second, so, pretty much unplayable.

sadly, reforgers cannot comprehend the difference between style and technical limitations. most of original warcraft 3's graphic were a result of style, they didn't try to be as realistic as possible, they went for a certain atmosphere and it worked. what they did with reforged is comparable to someone making a remake of super mario with 3d models of realistic humans

The art issues result from attempting to idealize every figurine. You want restraint to temper the aspects you’re portraying in art, when you make the ghouls as disgusting and fearsome as you can.. instead of limiting those features to establish the “credibility” of those ghoulish aspects you end up with a hodgepodge of extremes which do not illustrate a character but introduce an unbelievable and alienating creature in a world that was supposed to be immersive.

If you’re rich no problems with money then yes

I wish people involved with both of these projects wouldn't try to mostly dodge if not reject genuine critics including framerate, readability and performance / accessibility issues. But it looks like it's mostly going to be a "living together with disagreements" and try to make it peaceful. In an arch, it's sad for me to see that chronicles of the second war being one of the highest profile projects for War3 needs a separate installer or asset pack as I personally thought the compact nature of the game provided a plug and play feature that little to no other highly modded games did. If more mapmakers get ambitious you'd see big file size increases or inclusions of such installers. Imagine more HD mapmakers start creating and expanding as much as SD people are, then we could be seeing major issues such as wanting to grab 10 of these projects costing you about as much size if not more than Reforged itself, as if Reforged wasn't already quite wasteful of it's size consumption.

I never though the Reforged models looked bad on their own. They just had very poor readability in an RTS game due to their hyper detailed nature.

Of course not. Also there's no reason to buy WCIII and play the damn game if you want to play the current client. Instead buy WCIII + TFT, download older clients that are still around the net, use your unique serial number for the digital releases and play the older versions instead. Edit: Or just pirate it, don't give Blizzard any more money and give them the middle finger for all the bullshit they do and did.

'i dont like the warcraft 2 gameplay' i liked warcraft 2 way more than war 3. the fan made mod only barely fell short. the levels and characters were pretty good, but they didnt keep nerzhul in it. and since the story of the horde in war 2 is mostly about power struggles like the competition of power between nerzhul and guldan, dropping the dark master character was bad. and they didnt fix the integration- it was basicly as scuffed as the books. it was good enough that i think you should contemplate putting a dollar in the hat. but it could have had more focus on infighting and scheming and intrigue. also you may not have likes the sea battles but they were respectful to the original. they could have done things differnt and slightly better but not much, and it would have been much harder at the modder level than the dev level. basicly they could have had landing sites (or beachheads) which are buildable by ships. and then if you send units to a shipyard they enter the shipyard like a transport ship and when they reach enough units they automaticall deploy and sail to the landing point. this would be like the teleporter but more in the world. so there is potential to do better with naval stuff but not a ton better.

I'll be honest: Do these mods look AMAZING? Yes. But nothing outside Blizzard itself re-remaking the damn game for free would entice me and MANY OTHERS to ever bother paying for this game. Why pay more for an inferior version? Fuck Blizzard, piracy is the way to go. I still got my old copies of Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne, which I reinstalled last month to replay them, and I see no reason why I'd pay for an inferior, buggy and sometimes even uglier version that's almost abandonware and will never be fixed to stand on the same line of quality and effort as the old one. Good on these devs for pulling this much effort though.
