A REAL Tour Of Our DIY Ambulance Conversion (this is van life reality)

VAN LIFE REALITY TOUR | VAN TOUR OF OUR AMBULANCE CONVERSION (MESSY & REAL) 2021
We live in an ambulance - and we have for the past 10 months - and it shows. We live in a van in Canada and have done it through all four seasons now, so we figured, while parked on the side of the road in Kelowna BC that we'd show you what our van build looks like on a daily basis - even though you see it in our vlogs. Van life isn't always glamorous, and we never tried to make it that way, but here's an up close and personal view of what we really see in our van life from day to day.

➤ ABOUT US: Hi! We’re Nick & Raychel, the couple behind the blog Not Luxe - where we write travel guides & help people open their eyes to alternative living, whether that be teaching English online, moving to Cambodia, taking advantage of working holiday visas (like in Australia) or building a DIY stealthy camper van to live & work on the road. Right now, we’re living the van life and travelling safely in our own backyard of British Columbia in Canada.
Our goal here is to bring you weekly content where we hope to inspire you to break free & live the life you desire. On Thursdays, we talk everything from finances to minimalism to working online to mindset and on Sundays, we post a weekly vlog of our daily lives. We hope you join us on our journey to see the world, save money, live minimally, and most importantly, have fun.

    Thanks for watching! We cleaned the living SH*T outta this van after realizing how messy it was while filming 😅 but hey, we've gotta be honest - this has been the state of it lately. After al, living in a small space full time doesn't always go as expected.

    Nice build. A cheap option for roof access outside is getting white climbing wall stones and screw them in on the back. I think about six will do. Just make sure they are white so they will blend in. Cheers and safe travels. I am wanting to do an ambulance camper build and I have been pouring over videos to get inspiration. Thanks for adding to that! Much love, blessings and health...

    The automatic shut off for the lights may be inconvenient at times, but you're right about it being worth it. It would be a far greater inconvenience if your batteries went dead because you forgot to turn a light off.

    Van still looks good but I can understand hating the little sink I once had a small sink and doing dishes was such a pain in the A$$. Just some FYI don't keep onions with your tomatoes. The onions produce a gas that will cause your tomatoes to turn bad quickly. The sames with potatoes and onions. Potatoes and tomatoes are fine together. Really onions should be kept away from all veggies and fruit. I always keep my onions in their own container and away from all other veggies and fruit. Things now days are to expensive to let go to waste. Best wish, God Bless

    Is there a way you could send me pics of the front and rear control panels? I worked in EMS for 17 years but I’ve never seen a setup outside of the US. If it’s the same setup I should be able to get you running provided nothing is wrong with it.

    Did you guys make the pass through larger? Idea for the mirror... those little circle pads the size of a quarter you put under furniture legs to keep from scratching floors... put a few of those on the back and it could stay up with no noise and no scratches. 🤙🤙

    Ambulances come insulated even without a heater so it’s not entirely necessary

  • @nickandraychel

    @nickandraychel

    3 жыл бұрын

    Right but your insulation works as well as your least insulated areas :( ... the insulation that originally came in the ambulance had huge gaps between the hard insulation pieces so we although we stuffed with with soft insulation, the floor is also not insulated and the doors were very poorly insulated as well. If we were to do it again, we would have redone the insulation since what came with the ambulance was certainly not enough for a Canadian winter

    You could totally do it but I personally don’t. Nick has been working a brick and mortar job since January and it was too difficult to manage our sleep schedules since I would need dead silence between 3am-8am each morning and he would need to get his sleep and then get ready for work. I think it’d be a great idea for singles or if you’re both doing it on alternate schedules.
