This is technology that has been used in the print industry for a very long time. It’s called lenticular. Save yourself a lot of money and just search for lenticular sheets, you’ll find some suppliers sell it for less then 50$ a sheet
@michai333

Those types of lenses do not produce the same effect. This tech is born from those lenses but with a ton of RnD done to achieve the proper light bend.

Hmm true but it’s not exactly super attractive, I might just prefer a different barrier in situations like maybe a cool wall. The effect is just kinda blurry nothingness.
Seems it could be a next layer of modern/future combat utilizations. I would want an umbrella-like unit to have the option to place overhead of your position. Increase your chances of staying hidden from aerial reconnaissance.
The thing I would use this for is shitting in my backyard when my toilet is backed up.
I'm sure that if it exist for general consuming, it exists in a more advanced form for military use, which would be impressive
The Action Lab actually explains the effect very well
It's just lenticular plastic, there's nothing new about it, it's literally been around for years, when he refferenced the holo-cards, that's exactly what it is, I remember them using it on the sleeve for the vhs of The Lost World way back in the day.

7:08 awesome an excellent solution to hide wires of PC :D
It'd be good for office settings I bet - meeting rooms, pods and such

A great idea to use for fencing around your home.

or just get a nice wooden fence smh
If they made this flexible and made uniforms out of it, then it would be really good in certain places like a place where its very flat, not much mountain, not that many forests, would be really good actually!
@timseguine2

There needs to be a small gap between the shield and the thing it is hiding because of how it works. If what you are hiding is touching the shield from the back it will just look slightly blurry
The “hide those eggs” gives me life💀
Awesome! I remember seeing this September last year on Chris Ramsay's channel
Love the way Lew says 'Garage'
You can get the same effect (being unseen) using a piece of cardboard or plywood the same size.
this is literally just a clear sheet of that clear scratchy dj plastic
The kid that made these is going to make so much
A shield which doesn't take damage, yet tactical; brilliant!
All cameraman on those pranks already using this
I will build house out of these
imagine making armor out of this material
I tried watching in at 360p and I could only make out the last one, I would love to see it in a forested area to see if it would be discernable from a distance
We need this in a shield format
This should be compared against a shield that's just a display with a camera pointing the other way so the display shows what is behind the person behind the shield
Looks Nice to hide cables... They should do a cable management product. Or some product that hides something more daily common.
We need to wrap a car with this
Lew try using a thermal camera to verify if you can see the person behind
I'm definitely bringing this to my outdoor airsoft field
It should be " Surprise your enemies, avoid your friends! " hahahahahaha
I can finally hide in my house when I didn't finish the chores
I like the military one where they use cameras to project an image of the background on the visible side of a hummer. It looks like a blurr going down the road

It required the camera being in a specific position though, to line up the edges of the shield with the edges of the glass behind.
I really wanted to see the view from the other side of the shield
6:03 yes, it is a magic trick. You’d be surprised how much technology today used to be magic tricks yesterday. I’ve had a smaller version of this as a magic trick since the early 2000’s
Kyle Hill also made a video about this where he explained it in depth.
It would be interesting if the should could be spotted on a CTV camera.
This would make a great door window
My next Halloween costume. A floating head.
If you put more than one shield spread out of the room, it would be much more difficult to guess which one is the person.
It would've been cool If you hid the shield with a person behind it throughout the video (without telling the viewer) and then at the end tell the viewer which shots it was in.
The wall behind is even a better invisibility shield
I'm pretty sure this is the same type of film they put in showers to obscure the glass
Its like a strong opaque mirror
Shower door glass would be sick
It gets good accuracy to the setting look, but really more less just blur out the area
Would be great for bathrooms for shower glass.
that peel looked like a workout lol
An important product for daily use, an excellent idea.

i like how the room is so big :D
Should have multiple of these and then guess what one the person hides behind :D To make it even harder, have them placed not so close to each other, spread out over the room / image frame
Its better to reduce the sizes into pixel size and put unto millitary uniform.... Will be awesome..
Would of been interesting to see the reverse veiw
it just needs to be more transparent, the shield itself is pretty visible
I think it's very useful for militaries

Looks cool but it seems a bit expensive. Especially if the technology they say they're using is just lenticular sheets. But that's if they're using lenticular sheets, if it's some thing else then that's pretty cool I guess.

VFX already takes care of that
This would make some dope bathroom windows.... Or for the glass surround in a shower
So it's beginner light bending and visual eye trickery, not bad XD
