Buddhism is a truly global philosophy. European, North American, African, Latin American and Arab-born Buddhists, all add so much wealth to the rich, mostly Asian, Buddhist traditions, no matter where it is from. Blessings to all Buddhists!

I had read many Ajahn Chah's english translated lectures in books... the Forest Tradition... my first glimpse into what Buddhism is.

As a small girl in Cambodia I helped monks sweep the ground. In the middle of the jungle the tranquility, peaceful with mother nature(people that’s heaven on earth) adopted left the country Americanized. Now 57 but still remember the jungle. SA thu SA thu🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Cambodia a very beautiful country but its people are even more beautiful. I love Kampot and Otres village. The jungle and mountain rivers are also beautiful.

About ten plus years ago, Ajan Brahm announced some women to become bhikkhunis. It was considered not possible as there should be both senior bhikkhus and bhikkhunis present during the annointment. I have no opinion on this. To me, the practice is more important then worrying about who is right or wrong.

It's really truly training of monkshoods just like Buddha's time. It's really nice to see other nationalities wanting to be a Buddhist!! May all beings be happy, peace and harmony!!!!!

Monks can't create their own teachings. They are holders of teaching, not teachers themselves.

I am so joyful seeing that the monks are serious in practice and discipline. I am also very happy seeing that they are well provided with food, clothing, shelter and medicines. May they be happy and safe!

Buddhism is different from other religions is that each of us is entirely and solely responsible for our own salvation. No one else can be responsible. Buddha.

@paul w No. The Buddha is different. His teaching guides people to Nirvana, not just to heaven. He came to help save people from the never ending cycles of reincarnation - samsara. However, you certainly have the freedom to hold your own views. As buddhists, we respect that different people hold different opinions.

@MÈNG LIN QI Your view is one of an intellect. The teaching of the Buddha is not merely to be studied, but rather to be practised. To practise to a truly pure level requires a truly pure master. Such masters are maha-bodhisattas and samma-sambuddhas. We have to wait until such great masters appear. There are only five in this world cycle, Siddhartha Gautama was the fourth. Another will appear before this universe collapse.

If you can breathe, you can meditate. Ajahn Chah famous quote

ศาสนาพุทธ สอนให้รู้ความจริง สอนให้หลุดพ้นจากความทุกข์ รู้ทุกข์ รู้สาเหตุแห่งทุกข์ รู้การดับทุกข์ รู้ทางป้องกันทุกข์ แนวทางแห่งการดับทุกข์

No need to wait for holliday. Every minute and second you can pratice AnapanaSati (meditation by observing breath in and out) at every moment of your movements.

That is wrong view... You can practice meditation in your own bedroom or any room or any location. It is not necessary to be in forest dwelling. Wrong view!
