We only had DD in our childhood. And slowly we moved away to private channels. More because the first private channels were foriegn and we believed anything foriegn was better. Now i have come to realise what Doordarshan is all about. Doordarshan is the fountain of tranquility in todays world of screaming journalism. I ave gone back to DD. Alas, they have changed too with the times. But still miles better than the rest.

These songs were used to lift people's spirits in the freedom struggle where people used to sing them in the streets during protests and all to keep them going. Since then it always invokes a feeling of national pride and national oneness among us Indians. P.S. Oh yeah, it's also the National Song of India and all that.

‘Vande Mataram’ as a song or even a phrase was banned by the British. I don’t know any other place where the British banned a song or a phrase in a colony. Its effect on the masses was amazing.

And if there's ever been any song that gives me goosebumps plus makes me teary eyed every time I listen to it, its the A R RAHMAN version of Vande Matram. ❤️

Goodness every time this song comes up i have no idea what happens to me. So many, soooo many emotions run through my entire body. And you are absolutely right, I feel the exact same thing. Why look at it through lens, when you know you can have the experience of a lifetime if you just see it with your own eyes.
