Absolutely delightful, berklee never fails to amaze us by their performances
Me: I don't find many people who are awesome, love classics and are potterheads. Also me: *watches OSR on repeat*
My attempt at translating the lyrics, the situation is about a love struck woman narrating to her BFF, the story of a night of complete surrender with her lover(The first night of union after their wedding) - " My soul burns, as does my body ,as we gaze into each other's eyes in anticipation of the intimate moments that wil follow .. the smoke from the burning anticipiation obscures everything all night long, I can't explain it you my friend, the fire that lights my being.... As his loving eyes stake claim on every part of my body, my mind is overwhelmed by his intense gaze….my lips are sealed in complete surrender to the tango that his lips lead … I keep trying to make sense of my tossing & turning (as I offer myself to him in complete surrender), I just can't see how (and why) this night should end. Every vestige of my body, lights up in sparks of delightful pain...the fragrance of crushed flower petals (In Indian culture, the first night after marriage, the boy's side of the family annoint the bed with flower petals), overwhelm my senses like the kiss of a thousand butterflies, as i involuntarily rub the heels of my feet, as I cope with this multitude of never-before felt emotions, the 'heena/mehendi' on my feet (again, an Indian bride has elaborate patterns drawn on her hands & feet on her marriage day) indicate the extent of meta-physical disruption that I experience… ...I wondered if/how/why this night should ever end. (Note: In the Indian context and the many folk songs that glorify marriage, this song has nothing to do with lust - it's all about faith, gratitude & the purity of the Union of marriage) Peace, no trolls please.

You should probably hear this whole album Dil Se and react to all songs! The original Jiya Jale is sung by then aged 70 plus Lata Mangeshkar ji... her voice sounds like tinkling bells expressing the joy of a young girl getting married as per the song situation in this movie...it’s fascinating... Another interesting mix here is lyrics in malayalam and hindi - two diverse languages but they are seamless! Like India itself...
The instrument in the beginning is a Jewish harp called "Morsingh" in india.
The music is good in this version but believe me the voice is much more heart touching in original one....

This one is better, Lata mangeshkar rushed the song in dil se, in this the singer does a great job of working the pace of the song

@@utkrishtr103 I like this one too. The Vocals in this one seem more refined to me though the original is very good too.

Completely disagree; original is great, but musically, this is way better. Also I nerver liked Lata ji's voice; it always sounded like a sparrow with stomach ache. Asha Bhosle, Chithra, Shreya Ghosal, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Kishori Amonkar, Shubha Mudgal are far superior, in terms of voice tone quality, than Lata.

Godly ? ? ? Lata is Average. Chitra, Shubha Mudgal, Asha Bhonsle, even Aunradha Paudwal is ahead of Lata
