A customer came in today and asked how to fade olive drab paint on a Sherman tank. I had a little free time to put this video together to answer that question. Andy's Hobby Headquarters

Very informative info to fade olive drab. I never would've gotten that right either. I would've added a tiny bit of white and ended up with yuck causing me to use words that match that. No doubt about it, you're a bad ass modeler for sure. Love your vids!

I like that....Base with straight Tamiya Olive Drab. To lighten mix Olive Drab 80% to Dark Yellow 20%. Hit majority of model with lightened mix leaving some shadows / edges with the straight Olive Drab. Darken lower if desired.

The best thing about your videos is the music! Classic music fits so much better to scale modelling videos than dubstep or sth. like that. Now i can listen to modelling videos again. Thanks!

Interesting - I'm might have a go at undercoating/pre-highlighting with a pale yellow instead of white for my next Sherman...

Great info. I’m new to the world and have a Sherman to build. Do you need to reduce the Tamiya jars of paint for airbrushing or does it flow through the airbrush good?

nice tutorial. it's a hard color to paint and get it right. fading it just right to bring out the wow factor. again cool vid.

Hi Andy. If you use this 80/20 mixture technique is the Nato Black & White shadowing technique still applicable or is it too much? Thanks

Do you have to have a high end airbrush setup to attain the same results?

+Les Laxson No , for single color most airbrushes will do fine , the better airbrushes are better at fine detail and camo.
