Just picked one of these up for my GTI. Excited to hear how it sounds.

The dual 4 ohm option allows for a 2 ohm mono amplifier to deliver maximum output. If you use two of them, they can be wired to a 4 ohm mono load if needed. Many amplifiers are now optimized for a 2 ohm mono load, so this should work out well in most cases. -st

I have a pair of these custom mounted in the spare wheel well of my BMW Touring each one with its own 500W JL Audio amp. When I turn them up the car shakes so much that the electric windows wont close in the door frame. They're that good.

@sumaran72: They are designed for small sealed boxes. Free air is not recommended. @CAMDENN MUSTANG: 500 watts on each is a tiny bit more than I would recommend, but if you set things carefully, you should be ok. Please follow our recommendations in the amplifier owner's guide. Or you can email us at technical@jlaudio.com @FvD714: The final specs have not been determined on the 12TW3 yet. We take our parameters from production speakers and they are not in production. Yet. ;-)

The JL JD 500x1 arrives tomorrow- working my way up to the Tw5 by the end of the year!

I have 1 10 inch in a f250. It really sounds like 2 10s.... And the bad is precise, not sloppy. JL hit a homerun with this!

I am looking for subs to go in the saddlebags of my harley. 1 10 in each bag vs the traditional quad 6x9 would running a bead of silicon around the dust cap to prevent moisture harm them.

I am sorry I have not replied to these messages sooner. The TW3's should begin shipping in the next couple of weeks (10-inch first with the 12 about a month after). Initially the only recommendation we will list will be for sealed enclosures. We prefer to test and listen to ported enclosures before making recommendations. The TW3's are designed to be used in very small sealed enclosures. They are not recommended for infinite baffle (free air) applications. The 10TW3 only needs 0.5 cubic feet. That should be fairly easy to get in most applications.

i thought the same thing but smd's also have a 100 pound motor. so for the shallow mount, maybe that is a big voice coil? i wouldn't know for sure but that's how it seems.

Daniel: It is a tough comparison. The TW3 is a very different speaker. I don't think you would be disappointed with either one. I might lean towards the newer TW3 only because of the flexibility of it being such a shallow driver.

Hello, I`m interested in using two of these in my car via a sealed enclosure with separate chambers for each driver. I`m also using two HD 900`s and I was wondering if putting the 500 watts from each amp on each sub would be too much for them to handle. Any info that you can give me would be great. How close to the magnet can you place the back panel on these shallow subs JL offers?

The TW5 is, overall, a better product. The 13TW5v2 is the only size available (2 or 4 ohm coil options) and it has remarkable sound quality. The newer TW3's both have dual 4 ohm coils and you can get a 10 or a 12 inch. Sonically, the TW3 will be very similar to the W3v3 while the TW5 is a bit closer to a W6v2.

Disagree there. I had a 13TW5v2 and was never happy with its performance. Replaced it with a 12TW3 and that thing is a beast! Don't waste your money on the TW5. The TW3 is the better product!

quick question wat box is better for sub woofers, a closed box or a box with air vents?

I have a 12 inch Alpine type R with JL Audio C2-650 back & C2-550 front door speakers and a Pioneer DEH-80PRS head unit. I'm planning on buying a new sub and I'm wondering what sub is better, this new TW3 or a W3. Which one hits harder?

when can we expect the tw3 subwoofers in europe?

I've been running JL audio subs ever since I was old enough to afford them. I've had the W6 and W?s in twin 10s both were well powered and I loved them in my Audi then in my Z71. I'm now looking to add some more bass in my 2015 jeep rubicon unlimited (4door). It has a tone of aftermarket equipment on it as do most jeeps. I have not touched "premium system and floor mounted sub in the back. I'm looking for something that will allow me to still use the back to haul dogs and other stuff around. Do you have any suggestions on what I should put in and where? I'd be ok with a real nice 10 powered well, but there are some options I've seen in forums. I don't know wether to get a super low mounting sub under one of the sheets or if a stealth box is available or what amp I would need and where it could go. Space is an issue, but I don't want to put something cheap in that doesn't sound good. Please advise.

I have a 2016 Tahoe want to a amp and some subs, but want to put subs in the back panel is there a stealth box that fits in the place of the panel? I don’t want to take up a lot of space? Help?

Hello Pepe, We do not currently offer a Stealthbox® solution for the rear cargo area of your 2016 Tahoe, however, we offer a solution that fits inside the front center console. The SB-GM-4GSUVCNSL/10TW1 Stealthbox® fits inside the front console of 2015+ Chevrolet and GMC full-size SUVs with front bucket seats and a factory console. Loaded with a single 10TW1-2 in a down-firing sealed enclosure, the SB-GM-4GSUVCNSL/10TW1 Stealthbox® is wired for 2 ohms and rated for 300 watts of input power. Alternatively, if you require a custom enclosure specifically in the rear cargo area of your Tahoe, I recommend visiting a local JL Audio Authorized Retailer to inquire about a custom enclosure build.

@@JLAudioInc thank you for your quick response. i see on your website it recommends 0.60 cu ft. for a ported enclosure. the one i'm looking at is 0.88. is that going to cause a major issue? it's an enlcosure for two 10's that would fit behind the rear seat of a crewmax tundra. i guess my main question is, how exact does the enclosure measurements need to be? thanks again.

@jbw5485 that should not be an issue as long as the tuning is between 32-35 Hz. If it is tuned much higher it could sound boomy.

um so when did yo tw5 get released?? Probably like 4 or 5 months after cause both came out in the same year didn't they?? And are these subs good for xmax??? Like how many inches can both the tw5 and the tw3 push?? and what makes me want to buy JL more then other high quality company's like MTX, Rockford Fosgate, Pioneer, Earthquake Sound ect??
