This puzzle was solved by the magician Mikhail Tal when no other grandmasters stood a chance. Tal too couldn't find the solution at first glance but was able to solve it after returning from a short walk.

Well... When he walked for short walk i gave him the suggestion. He used to be my unfilial student, never focused on what i taught. He always messed up by blundering his pieces but because his opponents were often greater idiots he actually pulled the victories.🥱🥱

Mate in 3 1:Rook to g6. We take with g7 pawn 2:after taking the rook, we sacrifice the queen on h8. 3: black king is forced to take and then rook to f8 is checkmate. Thank you sir for giving this puzzle, these types of puzzles really improved my chess.

Bruh there was a way to reach there faster It starts with Bc2+ No matter where the king goes,if Kf8 then d8=Q# is simply checkmate and if Kg8 then d8=Q+ then Kf7 is forced and after that Qe7+ after that Kg8 is forced then Qg7 is simply checkmate

Puzzle solution Rook to g6 check then f7 pawn takes rook as h7 will lead to mate in 1. Then queen to h8 king takes queen And at last rook take f8 checkmate!

First Rg6+ after that fxg6 is forced because hxg6 is a forced mate in one with Qg7#. After fxg6 Qh8+ after this kxh8 is forced. Now after the beautiful queen sacrifice we get Rxf8# which is a checkmate and seals the game for white.

The best move for white is castle to F7 to checkmate, if black plays the king to G7 the pawn on H6 is checking him. If he takes the castle the castle on F1 is checking him, and if black moves the king to H8 the queen on D4 is checking him.

Puzzle solution: Rg6+ Now hxg6 is not possible due to Qg7#. So black has no option but to play fxg6 but then Qh8+ (queen sac) Kxh8 Rxf8# is a beautiful mate!

Proper explanation

At 1:25 white can also play bishop to b3 than the knight check is not possible and we can easily promote to queen. also this move was possible from the beginning.

Its said that none of the top GMs could solved it. But then came Mikhail Tal. He looked at the board, put a cigar is mouth, went out for a walk and came back with the solution!

Rg6+! If he takes the rook with h pawn the Qg7 would b a stunning checkmate so he will take with the f pawn protecting g7 square but there one more sacrifice Qh8+!! Only option is to take the queen and the rook delivers the mate by Rxf8#

Solution to puzzle wh: rook g6 check bl: pawn g6 x rook wh: queen h8 check bl: king x queen wh: rook f8 checkmate
