I miss Abramovich already. He was a football fan who became an owner. He was ruthless when it came to sacking of managers, but at least he kept quiet and let managers be managers. Boehly, on the other hand, is a businessman who thinks he knows football. He wasn't a even a football fan before he bought the club.

Klopp's response to this nonsense is so perfect. "He doesn't wait long," Klopp said. "Great. When he finds a date for that, he can call me. He forgets that in the big sports in America, these players have four-month breaks. "It is completely different in football. What can I say? Does he want to bring the Harlem Globetrotters as well and let them play against a football team? "I am surprised by the question so please don't judge my answer too much. But maybe he can explain it to me at some point and find a proper date. "Not sure people want to see that. Imagine that: Manchester United players, Liverpool players, Everton players altogether in one team. It is not a national team. North against south. That means north east [too], Newcastle... interesting game. And all the London guys together, Arsenal, Tottenham, great. Did he really say it? Interesting." Klopp should speak more sense like this and not blame other weird stuff for bad results lol

There is a time and place to propose these ideas to the appropriate bodies. However Boehly was saying this to Americans in an American based business event. He was basically just spitballing the potential he sees in the game and explaining why he got into it for the Americans who are interested. I think he probably actually got a few Americans interested in the Premier League with how he spoke to them about it. It was really more for gusto than having real meat to ideas like the all stars game.

I still don’t think it’s a bad idea. And Bohley even predicted what the response would be like from the British. He said there was a cultural aversion to these types of things, and then, what do we see on ESPN FC? Craig Burley, a Scott, calling it horse manure. I mean, they literally proved Bohley’s point without knowing it. If an Englishman or European coach/owner said the same thing, they wouldn’t bat an eye. It’s just cause Bohley is American. First of all, there's only ONE division in the EPL so they'd have to do like the MLS and the rest of American sports and divide the UK table geographically. Second of all, America needs to stop meddling in European football. I'm kinda/sorta behind the Ryan Reynolds Wrexham thing because they seem genuine but for the most part they oughta limit foreign ownership. I guess there's nothing that can be done when the money is good enough, though.

The same way that the English make foreigners very much appraised to their culture and way of life is what the FA and premier league should do to potential foreign buyers of English clubs. The UK is way too inclusive imo, it allows too much foreign investment in the city of London and the premier league and then they act all surprised when a super league happens eight under their noses. There needs to be a cap on the allowed amount of owners from one country or they will create a cartel like the Americans have already done. UEFA’s Article 48 ensures European national football associations have the right to prevent matches from being televised within a certain window, but only the English and Scottish FA's currently makes use of the option. American sports don't have national teams besides the odd Olympic excursion. World Cups, Euros, Copa America etc. give fans the chance to see different matches of the best stars around the world. And the International schedule fills up the "off season" so that now there are tasty competitive tournaments every summer with all kinds of star player on show. And as others have pointed out the top clubs in the world are all star games and that is what the champions league is about, especially the latter stages e.g. PSG v Real Madrid. As for American ingenuity in sports business, the Glazers leveraged buy out of MU was a great example of disaster capitalism.
