A Pleasant Future Vision: Passive House Source Zero Energy Home Tour

GHI members Harvey and Kay Bell want to invite you into their home to learn about what they did to reach Passive House US Source Zero Certification while being mindful of aging in place and other sustainability goals. How is their home functioning and performing? What should you know about passive house / net zero living? We will go over this and answer your questions.
Please join us for a virtual tour of their home, including additional GHI members who designed and built it.

Why is the zip sheathing on the exterior ceiling facing (green side) inward toward the house instead of facing outward away from the house like the zip sheathing on the exterior walls?

@@GreenHomeInstitute The green part of zip sheathing is the water barrier. In an exterior wall installation, the green side facing outward makes sense to protect the OSB substrate and the interior from outside weather. In an exterior ceiling installation, one would likewise expect the same outward facing orientation to protect the OSB and interior from weather from above. With the green side facing inward, wouldn't a roof leak damage the OSB substrate of the zip sheathing because the weather barrier is on the opposite side of where the weather protection is needed?
