A Place in Space: What Happened to Space Exploration? | FULL DOCUMENTARY
Фильм және анимация
In 1969, Neil Armstong was the first. And in 1972, Eugene Cernan, commander of Apollo 17, was the last man to leave his footprints on the moon. He believed “Man would be on his way to Mars by the turn of the century…” Instead, 50 years later, it is “Curiosity” and “Opportunity”, two robots, who are roaming the surface of Mars today.
What happened to the astronauts’ dream to return to the moon, set foot on Mars and go further still? Do we really need them to explore the farthest corners of the universe? Are robots, space probes and satellites not a far better ally of science? What exactly do we need astronauts for?
From Moscow to Houston, from Cologne or Paris to Los Angeles and Washington, A Place in Space takes stock of the current state of space conquest, its achievements, its dead ends, wrong turns and its future…

You are a great man ❤
I really enjoyed the script for this documentary. It was very well written. Although humans have value in space, I think it's best to leave it to the rovers and scientists.

Thank you!
The exploration is best done by probes, robots and Ai.
If you are curious about the Mars 500 experiment, it end well, but not too well. The crew started to suffer from sleep and psychological issues. As the experiment went on, individuals became more reserved, spending a lot more time in bed. The crew spent 700 hours longer in bed in the second half vs the first half of the experiment.
"and every day she makes her way to her little office"
Robots and AI. Way cheaper!!
why are the french so obsessed with getting to mars ?
This cynical documentary was made before Musk started making bussiness of space. Of course none of those library mice that talk parapeted behind the piles of books they accumulated on their desks to shelter themselves of reality is going to make any sense of human space exploration, they wouldn't ever dare to do it. It was also nonsense to cross the Atlantic westwards in 1492 or to circumnavigate the globe a few years later, but once they did it, a whole new world of opportunities opened that is still fruiting nowadays. Don't worry, Chinese will set foot on Mars soon, they don't care about your "realistic" approach that rather waste all the space exploration funding in football games.
Just another fairy tale.
