The color of that wood is absolutely stunning. I’ve never seen such a red wood before. And the stool design is incredible! I would’ve loved to sit and study it as a kid.

Grandpa…you are a delight to watch as you transform “simple” pieces of wood into “spectacular works of art”. I would venture to say you didn’t learn these skills on your on but they were probably handed down to you from generation after generation of skilled crafters in your family….it shows how grandfathers teaching sons, teaching sons become “ancestral treasures” of skilled craftsmen. I take my hat off as I salute you sir!

This old boy is using some seriously advanced skill, he makes it look so easy but the sawing of those straight cuts especially the first long ones is very difficult to do, as well as chiseling those flat planes! Master craftsman at work, be in awe of this master!

There's something very special about those, knowing that they are all made frome the same single piece of wood without ever separating it completely. It's amazing!

It's not just about the order of operation, but also the fact that he had to plan it out in reverse to draw up the 'plan' on the block of wood in the first place. And it's a beautiful piece of wood. Love the colour. ❤

A dying breed of ppl. Patience, craftsmanship, intelligence and respect for the way things used to be created. It wasn’t pulled from a dump of data and spat out by a printer. You truly have to love the process to create something like this. We’re definitely loosing ourselves in technology.

All the original commenter saod was the kind of people who create like the gentleman in the video are becoming rarer and rarer - people with a love and patience for their work that allows them to create something wholly incredible and storied start to finish. Never did they say older was automatically better, just that there is a more personal touch that leads to a far more remarkable and satisfying result than something simply printed off.

Grampa Amu is the best wholesome channel on KZread.

I love that even his tools are perfect in their simplicity and all without battery powered tools, wonderful craftsmanship, and what a "workshop" those views while he works away in harmony with nature.

I am in awe from watching this. Unbieveable skill, craftmanship and talent. I wished they taught us this kind of skill in Woodshop back in Junior High School. This makes my little crafty lamp look like peanuts compared to this beautiful stool.

I love the concept of simplicity meeting form and function! Idk why, but there's something about a man working on his craft to create such a thing that I find to be satisfying. I dig his tools too...traditional wooden bow saw, a hand powered drill, etc. Just awesome.👍

Grandpa Amu never disappoints. All of his projects are wonderfully thought out and made.

This is the kind of craftsmanship that needs to be kept alive, a CNC machine couldn't make that.

I've made some genuinely beautiful pieces of furniture in my day. There isn't anything I've ever made that doesn't pale in comparison to these stools - especially that third one he sits on at the end. This is beyond just woodworking or carpentry - this is sculpture. The man is an artist - an artisan artist, even.

Your smile at the end says everything I feel about completing a woodworking project that you know went well (even if not perfectly!). That satisfaction and pride in making something new is a feeling of bliss like no other.

Dear Sir, I am mesmerized by your talent, I watched you build these works of art out of solid blocks of wood, that takes a lot of concentration, of which I don't seem to have anymore. I used to build scale model buildings, homes, garages, sheds, etc; but as I have gotten along in my years I seem to have lost it. I still have the patience to watch you apply your expertise. I love how the saw blades can be threaded through drilled holes to access difficult to reach cuts.

No electric power-tools, no screws, no metal hinges, "All Wood" now that is a Master Craftsman. I love watching. Who knows I might even learn something.

Workmanship is unsurpassed, and all by hand tools. Wow, this man is amazing!

The most satisfying part is him completely ignoring the camera yet showing his tables off.

This is an art and a skill that transcends time and obsolescence. It’s not for the masses and neither will it be mass produced. I appreciate the skill and intelligence of these art pieces from this great man. This is NOT for the shallow of mind and appreciation. We need to preserve all his difficult pieces. How I wish he would do it in really nice hard wood, take time to sand it well and then protect it with a good waterproof coating. I for one would buy it when finished better.

Really elegant design and impeccable craftsmanship - I can't imagine sawing straight lines like that with a handsaw - really amazing skill!
