Yup! You can't buy cats or dogs in pet stores here. It's illegal to sell them like that. Tho you can still get bunnies, hamsters, turtles etc.

About a year ago, a dog got in our yard, when our door was open because something burned and we had to get the smoke out. The dog came it and attack our youngest kitty, and she died when we got to the vet. It was the worst day of my life, and I looked like I was gonna die. Our other became sad so we got another one, and named her muffin. We had a fence, but this was a smart dog I guess. The person who let the dog go said sorry and gave us 100 dollars. I ripped it in half. Money is not worth my pet. So the person got cat things, for us. T.T

There is no such thing as bad dogs. Just bad dog owners. Im sorry for your cat Arrow. But amira, you need to chill. We have a dog and two cats and our dog has never hurt them. In fact she will play with them! She's also patient when the kitten attacks her tail.

My little sister went to the mall and we stopped by the pet store. On impulse my mom bought her a dog and 1 day later my sis forgot she had to take care of it. Then my mom said I would take care of it. I have a fear of all dogs small and large!!! I love my dog now but i dont know how to train it and vet bills are expensive and i get anxiety sometimes when it runs up to me. The moral of my suffering... NEVER buy on impulse!!!

It's not always bad to buy a pet on impulse, some of my best experiences with pets were impulse buys (although to be fair, I'd always known a lot about dogs and cats, anyway). My little girl, Curie was an impulse birthday present and my baby boy, Romac, was also one. The difference between someone like me and the type of person who throws a dog away the second it's not cute is that I actually wanted an animal, not a cute children's toy. You can't ''grow out of'' feeding your pet cat. I treat animals like companions and anyone who sees a pet as a toy or an object is disgusting.

Eevee the grumpy scientist agreed. I had many impulse bought birds and still managed to research them and give them proper care, because I actually wanted an animal in my house, not a fancy moving toy.

Definitely true. I've done the impulse fish purchase more than once (I have a weakness for bettas) to the point I keep the materials for temporary digs that I can set up quickly on hand, to last a fish while I cycle and heat my main tank to get it ready. I never have more than one betta in a tank, of course, so I don't look when I don't have a tank vaccancy, but I don't always cycle until I KNOW a new betta is coming. Smaller pet impulse purchases have been pretty okay for me, as an adult. I get why you would want to be sure kids know what they're getting into and what they have to do, though!

My cat was sort of an impulse. We'd kinda sorta been talking about it. I know how big of a responsibility pets are because my mom has a dog and my sister has a cat. Then a neighbor found a kitten an was asking around if anyone wanted to keep her. They wanted her to have a good home but his wife was allergic to cats. My mom asked if i wanted a cat and i said yes. I take good care of her.

pets are for a lifetime they dont just last forever they last for a few years my dog is 9 years old no one should ever treat pets badly one of my cats never got food from the other owners i was heart broken and she wont grow but all of my pets have a good home and a happy life.

A pet isn't a lifetime commitment. You'll outlive most pets (unless it's a macaw or box turtle). So unless you're elderly, you won't be taking care of the pet for the rest of your life. I've had many pets, and never did research. But I did research before getting a bigger bird earlier this year. But still, you will only be caring for the pet for the rest of its life, not yours.

I got my first parakeet in impulse. She didn't live long though. She was bleeding, and even though now I know everything about parakeets, I still don't know why she was bleeding. I also got my dog in impulse. Still can't train him.

I like that both of the families went to an adoption centre instead of buying at the pet store! Nice way to show that as an option!

To find my cat my parents when to 3 different shelters one each day. They found her on the third and she was the only one who talked back. (In other words my Mom said "Hi there." and my cat got up walked to the cage door and mewed back purring)

I Loved My Rabbit. It was called Samuel. He had slot of adventures with me. He fell down the table with his cage one night. He still was okay. He had this virus,I don't really remember the virus name but it made him lose alot of fur. He also had his favourite pooping spot=_= He never bit me but he did bit my brother younger. We loved giving him food and feeding him. We are kids so we didn't know how much to give but we have alot of food xD. We don't know how he died but I expected he killed himself by not eating and not drinking because he was dead while his food was full and water was full. All I want to say to Samuel is Thank You. You were a good rabbit. Hopefully he is in Carrot land🥕🥕🥕

Well, the human lifespan is about 85 years, and most animals don't live that long. (Tortoise can live to be 250 though!) So not really lifetime commitment, but you do need to know to take care of them.

Tho with most cases you will get another pet to "replace" the past one. For example if you have lived with a dog for 20 years it's hard to get used to life without a dog. I mean you got all the supplies amd experience ready so...
