I was in Saudi Arabia during the late 90's and not much of Satellite Tv culture was there. There were only few means to know about whats happening at Subcontinent. One among them was an Urdu News paper called Urdu News. This paper was published in Saudi Arabia itself and at that time I came across Two Prominent Names one from India and another from Pakistan. The first was Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and the other was Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. In gulf or any other country one gets bonded with the people who speaks your mother tongue, so we had relationships with Pakistani people as well. We use to discuss, over things also debate and fight during India Pakistan Matches. No matter how close we were but at the end we were Indians and they were Pakistanis and we had our differences. During this time the Pokhran Nuclear tests were conducted and Dr. Kalam became a Hero, and after some days maybe a week or so Pakistan also conducted Nuclear Tests and Dr. Qadeer became a Hero. People started comparing Dr. Kalaam with Dr. Qadeer we had heated conversations with our counterparts, and then in 99 I came back to India. But since then the popularity of Dr. Kalam Sir started to rise where as Dr Qadeer got into controversies over trading Nuclear secrets. Dr. Kalam Sir had only one vision in his mind, the country and the people of this country. And till his last breath he served his country. And everybody knows what he left behind. @Atul Tiwari Ek Respect woh hoti hai jo hum saamne wale ko uske naam ki wajah se dete hain, Doosri woh hoti hai ji DIL se nikalti hai. Aur jo respect Dil se nikalti hai woh sirf naam ke wajah se nahi balki Kaam ki wajah se bhi nikalti hai. And because of this reason Dr. Kalam Sir is also called People's President. Na jaane kitne log aaye aur Desh Bhakti, Watan Parasti ke naare lagaye aur in future aayenge, but this is a person jinhon ne kabhi kuch kaha nahi sirf apna Kaam karte rahe aur young generation ko inspire karte rahe. I am lucky enough to have attend one of his Lecture when I was in College. At that time he was the President of India and it never seemed that The President of India is in front of us. Now its our duty to carry forward his Vision and make our country a finest country in the World in all aspects. So my request to all my Indian Brothers and Sisters that instead of getting trapped in the net of political/religious parties let us start working for the betterment of our country on our own.

I thought Jesus and buddha was a myth, Gandhi was exaggerated, but here is this man, A Mahatma lived among us! A selfless intelligent soul! ❤️

Had read about this elsewhere, hence the 'surprise' element wasn't there. But, Dr. Kalam has always been an inspiration, and one of the few good leaders India has had for a long long time. Also, one of the few who truly deserved the once-coveted Bharat Ratna, for not just being a scientist par excellence, but for being such an inspiration to many generations, by being a humble and good human being despite all his achievements. Salute him !!

Leadership is not merely a set of procedures and activities, but it is the process of influencing others in a manner that enhances their contribution to the realisation of the group goal.Great leadership involves bringing out the best in your followers. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam here has shared very interesting incidence of his life which taught him a lesson, a paradigm that no university could ever teach him. He explained how Mr. Satish Dhawan, the then chairman of ISRO took the whole responsibility of the failure of launch mission of 1979 on him, but when it came to success after an year, he simply gave all credits to Mr. Kalam, the project and mission director, and to his team by sending them to crack the news of success to the press. This taught Mr. Kalam the key qualities of good leadership, firstly, inspire others through emotional connection and rational explanations to strive hard to achieve the goal, secondly, keep the team goals over your personal goals. Good leaders should articulate their vision in such a way that followers can clearly comprehend and visualize the desired future, and this is what happened with Mr. Kalam, who himself grew to be an inspiration for many leaders worldwide. Truly said, " A Leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way."
