My son was not a U.S. citizen when he joined and served in the U.S. Marines for four years of his life. He loved his country then, and he loves it now. The Marines needed a light weapons armorer so they sent him to a U.S. Army school to learn how to maintain and repair light infantry weapons. While at the 1st LAR Battalion, he helped bring his unit arms room up to and above standards to pass inspection and helped the unit win special recognition for that. The old man held his orders to go on float until he had about a year left on his enlistment. Before leaving the Corp, the U.S. Marines helped him get his citizenship papers. My son was a "green card" Mexican citizen/U.S. veteran, now he's a proud U.S. citizen fluent in two languages and running his own successful new house construction business.

They should make a movie about him. I think the guy that played Selena's brother can play that part. Or that Mexican guy that played Friday's part 2.

Hollywood doesn't make movies of Mexican/American war heroes. Ever seen a movie about Guy Gabaldon, WWII? Captured over 1500 Japanese! Or, Roy Benavidez? What Sgt Benavidez did, makes Rambo look like a boy scout.

Thank you for sharing this story. In bootcamp recruits learn his name in the Marine Corps manual. I beleive he is burried in Mexico? The VA wouldnt pay for his headstone because he was in Mexico. I beleive congressman had to get involved. Mexicans have made big contributions in the Military. We just enjoy the tough life.

They don’t make them like that since WWII! Many non US born citizens have take the call and fought for this country. Many of them paid the ultimate price for this country to continue to have their freedom. Ungrateful Natural born citizens, if you ask me! Many of them White race are ignorant of the many non-white sacrifices that was done and when the Axis Powers were defeated, them heroes returned to a segregated country!
