The statistics that the Geena Davis Institute has put together so diligently through the years have certainly promoted change in the film and television industries in profound ways, and the conferences have been inspirational. However, my favorite event that this organization has supported was the one I just saw here, so wonderfully organized by SAG-AFTRA Foundation. It gives me great hope watching the work of Lucille Clifton honored by a Hollywood that is usually far less sensitive or aware of poetry. Thank you, actors, for such beautiful performances of Lucille Clifton's poems.
