Congrats on 200k!🎉 Great vid to celebrate this. Following this channel for so many years. Great content. I was always fascinated by the atomic bombs. 🎇
My late Father worker with a guy who was at some British Tests in the Pacific. He asked him what it was like, and he said "it filled the Horizon". Now I know what he meant
That’s the Greenhouse 1951 George shot. Beautiful color. It has the amazing resolution of a 35 mm reel capture.

We don't know the range but it look a much higher yield than 200ish kt.

@@stewiemac4017 The early mushroom head size was greatly enhanced by the low (203’/62m) tower cabin required for neutron time of flight versus energy experiments, including GANEX (GAmma Neutron EXperiment) on the ground near the tower. The fireball brought a lot of ground materials into the fireball, because it touched the ground. Remember that the much smaller yield Smoky test in Nevada over-performed on a 690’ (210 m) tower, and the fireball tore into the ground, that caused a fallout disaster. At the end of the sequence the mushroom bell was beginning to develop in the air rarification of the powerful updraft of humid ocean air. The George yield estimates were around 225 kilotons.

Interesting
I mostly find the videos here fascinating, and never expected one to give a sense of "dread". It wasn't even the fact that it took up the camera's entire field-of-view (out to horizon!), but the amount of time that passed before being reminded "don't forget about the fireball"! Maybe the relative silence added to the effect, idk. Like a sky that entrances you before a BIG storm, then starts funneling a "little too close"!
Awesome video to celebrate 200k subs!! Definitely one of the best Greenhouse George videos ever seen!! You are truly doing a great thing by helping to make these videos available to the public!!
Very often Autoplay our channel. Great work and effort. Lot of $$$ and time invested. Thank you for that!
I grew up during the 60s & 70s. Sometime between the end of the Cold War and now, we seem to have lost our fear of nuclear weapons. I'm hoping that people, after seeing these videos, will relearn that fear.

One thing back then, the majority of those who had nukes loved their children enough never to start a nuclear war. It takes more than one person in the US anyway to put in motion the launching of those types of weapons.

@@insideoutsideupsidedown2218that's a good point. Most people in my generation don't know anything about the past, don't care about the future, and are concerned with only themselves
Horrifically beautiful. I could watch it over and over.
I worked in one of America's major nuclear weapon production facilities (Y-12) for over 30 yr. I love to watch the above ground test shot films.
Congratulations on 200k viewers! This is a nice remastered video of what I believe is Greenhouse George. It gives an awesome feel of the scale of the explosion. Thanks for posting!
Beautiful. It's not the right word because there isn't a word for how I wanna describe this. Thank you! thank you! Literally never seen these and it's an added bonus from seeing 'Oppenheimer' with my old man Sunday.
Been subscribed to this channel for like 13 years. Congratulations.
Nice clip! Would love to be able to watch, someday, a re-release of the Commander's report on Operation Castle... Not holding my hat though 😅 (It was classified no less than "Secret - Restricted Data - CNWDI", if memory serves)
Congrats on 200k! I never want nukes used on people even again, but man I am jealous of the people who got to witness these tests. They are so fascinating and beautiful. To watch something that is miles away from you grow to cover your field of view and eventually tower over you to the point that it feels like you are standing right below it. Imagine if it wasn't a bomb, imagine if a tree grew like this. After a few minutes you would be standing under the branches looking up at the bottom of the treetop that is now miles over your head.
This is probably the first video I have seen that does not have music or the sound of the explosion synched with the fireball. Makes it much more realistic.
Oh my god this a best video ever seen. Thank u…George💪🏽🔥
This appears to be Greenhouse George. Congrats on 200k!
That's some fancy firework for 200k :) Congrats, and awesome video!
Always love too see new footage of nukes...been with you since the start of ur channel👍
Congratulations! Despite the content, this channel is good history. One we need to learn from, not run from.
That was beautiful. Thank you
George shot... i think, congrats !!

I thought same.
we need more video footage of Dominic 1 and 2 footage those are closer to what would happen in today's world with a nuclear war definitely a way to educate people to stop what could be started and hopefully never will happen
I remember when they stopped even bothering to have us do drills in school and started using the fallout shelter for general storage because the futility of the fallout shelter became apparent.
0:24 1:02 and 1:25 impressive
Nicer resolution, and congrats on 200K!
Good roaď to 300k
What a beautiful sunrise ☺
Lile the Sun rises in the West, congrats on 200k

Holy schmoly, wow!....What Test was this? Ivy? Redwing?
Magnifient.
A blazing supernova of destruction, painting the horizon in shades of doom.
It's stunning! Very nice video!
Wonderfull! What is this test ?
Wow
What is this ivy Mike or is it castle bravo or is it just backer
Longtime subscriber. Anybody know what test this is? If it's US, then likely the Starfish Prime or Dominic series, as those have the best perspectives and film stock. Looks British possibly. Definitely not France.
What shot was this and a date? Great job with the videos BTW...
I can confirm 100% that is Greenhouse George
Another amazing upload 😊😊😊😊
Wow never seen before
ultra high quality !
Congratulations on 200,000 subscribers great video as always 🦅🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🛠️⚓🔧💯
Awesome and terrifying at the same time.
And for the lucky 200,000 subscriber; a W61 warhead. Winner collects! 😊
Dark suns. Someone gave it this name. It's approptiate. There is a book about the tests called "dark suns".
I can only imagine smoking a joint sitting on the beach and then seeing that
I wonder what shot this was? It looked liked a relatively low yield thermonuclear explosion.
Millions of aquatic animals died instantly
Good times. Good times.
❤❤❤
Grandfather said he worked as businessman who traveled around the world; selling brand new vacuums in his late 20s and married my beautiful grandmother. At his death in bed with 5 children of his own; he confessed everything and directed us to find boxes in basement; we all learned he was working for Department of Atomic energy at height of Cold War. He made so much money by watching nuclear weapons and make reports to Washington DC about explosions. He was able to send all 5 kids of his own (my mother too) to college and kept a big house too. His last letter from the office in D.C. was; ‘We need make it go bigger… Have the Air Force work on an aircraft that can carry it.’ For last 40 years of his life; he spend as a physician professor at university in Canton, NY. Keeping all the secrets to himself. Students would make fun of him for being too smart, but never experienced what his grey eyes have seen in the Pacific Ocean from 1948 to 1961. Love you Edward ‘Papa’ We forgive you for lying to us for being a vacuum business man, but you were direct engineer of nuclear weapons observation, you were just doing what you would serve for this country.
How Mandy megs? I would guess arround 12MT.
"The cloud rose into the atmosphere with remarkable speed, fantistical colors of purple, red and green twisted skyward, poisonous, evil, malignant"
Wonderful
Krikie......thatza'biggen.
Do we know which Shot? Looks multi megatonne
Greenhouse George?
My god!!! That nuke explosion was Biblical! We should all get our affairs in order. Mutually Assured Destruction, here we come!
That is my favorite video, it’s so surreal with the sound of the ocean, and that scary frightening happens in the distance, just mesmerizing!
Winter is coming
That was a big one thanks
I'm curious how far away it is recorded? Also with other movies.

For me top it's always the same question, for a H bomb it is at least 50kms
This channel is sick.
How is the video quality so good? I mean, if it is a USA device, this footage was before 1962, were the US stopped atmosphere nuclear tests, and at that time, cameras did what they could, they barely had color
Mmmmm - megatonnes...
castle Bravo?
Need to send Putin one of these😂
Wild🤙
congratulations!
Also, why was this classified?
ivy king?
Maravilha de Video. Parabéns.

Nah, Bravo was far bigger and hotter, and it also had a far more perfect shape to it. The Bravo footage is very interesting, you can see the tiny mushroom from the first stage fission device inside it and it quickly becomes engulfed by the fusion second stage's mushroom
Wheres the shock? Didn't hear anything except waves breaking
terrifying
Thought we would hear the boom

i just hope you guys dont get hurt
Грандиозное зрелище!/ A grandiose sight!
Duke Nukem Atomic would be proud.
I dont know why but recently every time I see explosion I hear in my mind distance fart with echo effect... Beside that really nice video like always :D
Fucking nightmare!
I am the 200000th subscriber. Please send me an atom bomb as a gift. 😂. I will use it for home defense only 😕.
NOT A GOOD ONE. WAS EXPECTING TO SEE THE INITIAL BLINDING FLASHLIGHT, AND TO HEAR A BOOM AT THE BEGINNING. REALLY GOT SADDENED😣😣😣
@tremoxo

Cheer up noob. You'll never hear a boom at the beginning since these movies were filmed very far away. And the blinding flash, would just be a full white screen for a few seconds.
Damn that needed a wider angle😢
please turn off this supid Japanese translate. it is not make any sense.
Animals, total savages man is.
Jesus wept. #EndNATO
Anybody know what shot this was?
И чего Штаты на Москву такую не кинули в 50-х? Много проблем и войн не случилось бы.
