Shastasaurus creator here thanks for covering my creature really appreciate the praise for it the saddle isn't a tek saddle though the idea I had in mind was to make it similar to the Andrewsarcus saddle and have it be a more high tech saddle that can just be crafted in a smithy or fabricator and produces oxygen with no cost

The center has always been one of my favorite maps, the only thing holding it back is the fact that it only has access to base game content. Even all the way back when they added ragnarok it came with basically a mini scorched earth, so it got outclassed pretty quickly when more DLC maps started rolling in

@@therealbnasty3719 Scorched earth is the story map you find the wyverns on, they usually only spawn in their nesting area up in the top right of the map, but you can occasionally find them flying around anywhere. You can also find rock drakes on aberration and magmasaurs on genesis part 1

⁠@@therealbnasty3719ragnarok has griffins and wyverns I believe. I know a bunch of other maps have wyverns too like scorched and valguero. I guess there is rock drakes and reapers on aberration. And extinction has snowy owls, managarmr, and gachas. Idk which out of these ones technically classified as mythical but those are some options ig. On another note, extinction was my personal favorite map so I highly recommend it. Although the bosses are insane.

Or would the crabs gather in groups of 4-5 to exchange shells? The player could throw out the saddle-shell and hope that the crab would take an interest in it. The player would have to defend the shell-shifting crab to tame it

problem is you cant cuz the shas cant go in the bubble or it will die and you will not be able to release dinos in the bubble from the shas as they instantly floath to the survace

@@ragureee You make a underwater pen next to it, park there and move your dinos, they will not float when following and you can move them one by one yourself if you have to. Also flying dinos can just stay in the sub. On the side note I belive they could make the Shasta immune to instant death so you can load your dinos a little easier, just like they allow Rhynio to go underwater which was unheard of back in the day for any flying dino.

Going back and building in those domes or on gen 1 would be fun if they fleshed out the oceans more general, the fact the only sharks we have are pygmy megs is so baffling to me.

i think the most underwhelming thing about this iteration of hatzegopteryx is that its main function is completely nullified by just going out of render distance of your taming dino

I think the idea of it being an ambush hunter would be awesome. Like it swooping down from super high in the air and picking the player off their Dino. Like it would be super cool and may also prove a threat to higher level players. Also making another use for parachutes on PvE

⁠@@eleanorcooke7136I just had the best idea of where, when it ambushes you rather than being smart, it just fucking drills down like a griffin, and does huge damage, with a 15% bleed that stuns your the bird for 10 seconds or more, probably more. It’ll also be pretty cool to just dive bomb based, but I doubt it’ll be useful pve.

Shasta, hatze, and the hermit crab are my top three. Being able to keep your Dino’s underwater is sick, a flyer being able to protect your currently being tamed creatures is so useful and, the different variations of the hermit crab is soooo cool.

@@DireFox7 the white cliffs area has a lot of wide open grasslands, which is exactly where cheetahs hunt and live. I’m sure those rock golems, allos, and rexes that live in the white cliffs area put cheetahs to shame in the climbing department as well don’t they.

The Eurypterids are sea scorpions if I'm not mistaken not lobsters. I'm not entirely sure if lobsters come out on land on their own but I know they can survive on land for short periods of time. The fresh water crayfish, crawdad, or crawfish whatever you wanna call it can also come out onto land but they're more semi aquatic they'll come out to find new bodies of water and I think to build burrows in the mud too

Even if the Ichthyosaur gets a TLC to jump out of the water, the Flying Fish can still glide around, which thy Ichthy can't do.

I really appreciate these creatures' votes videos. I agree wholeheartedly that a water creature would be perfect for The Center, but another thing to consider is the map hoppers. The creature is perfect for said map, but would it work on another? The creatures that got my vote are the ones that can go between land and sea. Was hoping for more of another Maewing type creature cause something like that would be beyond perfect for The Center to go between land, sea, and possibly air.

My top three picks were the Shastasaurus, Nothosaurus, and Mesoparapylocheles (giant hermit crab). Just seemed to have some of the most unique abilities and also pretty unique visually when compared to some of Ark's existing creatures. The Center is one of my favorite maps (despite the lack of DLC content, and overpopulated caves), so I'm looking forward to seeing this get an update in the form of a new exclusive creature.

I really want the cheetah but I just love cats, then it was the Shasta, Notho and Hatz. I really like the idea of the Hatz to be an ambush predator like swooping out of the sky to snatch the player, and I love the colour and design of the deep sea looking Notho. Do I even need to explain why I want the Shasta?

I definitely preferred air and water over land creatures. My top was Hatz, it has always been a favorite of mine. I prefer the predatory quetz concept more though. I like it for the center because of the tall spires and redwoods, and I hope they would allow it to grab onto the side of them. My second was the hermit crab, the Meso, because I like the variations in concept, and again I preferred water creatures with this map overall. The Lobster was my last though...I would much rather have the hermit crab than the lobster. It just really didn't grab me as a great concept. I really hope they actually revamp The Center beyond just updating it for UE5. I want them to make it a map I want to load onto my cluster. Give us a reason other than an exclusive creature for wanting to go there. Maybe introduce some new engrams. Make a unique boss for the map. Things to bring people to the center.

Actually the Orcinus citonensis were much smaller than their modern-day descendants. The early orca was typically around 14 feet long, whereas the modern orca can reach 20-26 feet in length.

Pretty cool stuff, but I really like the hermit crab. It’s think it brings lots of interesting possibilities. Especially if it introduces the idea of like different saddles or sets.

The hermit crab is so detailed and well thought out that it must win. It will benefit the game for both PvP and PvE. It's useful in both land and sea. If any of you haven't read the submission I highly recommend checking it out

I don’t know how difficult the Shasta’s submarine saddle would be to program but it would be incredible! Best gameplay idea out of any submissions so far!

Hermit is the funniest one of all but I think it’s got some great potential

i love flying fish but we basically already have that with the manta, and i would much prefer that get a tlc than get a new creature that does what it does but better

I like the Shastasaurus, Thorcopterus, and the saivodus I love the idea of being able to take larger creatures underwater and having a cool submarine type base

The center map also has a large cave system as well.

It’s a really underrated map, it has a deep sea, it has like this aberration zone before aberration, a floating island, and some cool areas like skull island, the only problem with the map is that they never made a reason for you to go there, there’s no creatures, and shit to do that’s worth it.

This is the hardest and therefore the best creature vote yet There are just so many options. I like almost all of them Definitely excited

13:53 to give context for anyone interested hermit crabs irl will actually get into large groups and line up from smallest to largest and trade shells since they are growing out of their old one and im assuming that's happening here but idk.

Shasta would probably be able to be like a submarine base. Have a land/flying mount in there, few planters maybe, and you could have a little place to camp out when water taming. My only concern is it getting attacked by something else and then everything gets destroyed.

My recommendation is to carefully choose your order from top to bottom, Sorry Syntac but the focusing on top 3 and bottom 3 partly contributes to the situation we got in the Ab vote

Hermit Crab, Lobster, Shasta, Orca, Notho, Hats, Baja, mira, thora, sai. Crafting shells for the hermit crab seems like a whole new thing but the versatility of the lobster is intriguing, frankly they should do both.

14:00 hermit crabs often form queues when they find a shell that's too big for them, waiting for a crab of the right size to come along, then they all start a chain reaction of hastily moving from one shell to the other starting from the biggest hermit to the smallest

You really need to make sure that you rank ALL your choices. Don’t just put your top 5 in order and then not care about the rest. Think of it this way, you essentially have 55 votes, and your ranking determines who those votes go to. So 10 votes go towards your number 1 choice and 1 vote to your last choice. Each round the lowest vote getter is removed and those 55 votes get redistributed based on your ranking MINUS that choice that was eliminated. Also, I was really disappointed with the top 10 this time around. I only have 3 that I actually want for this vote. Hermit crab, giant lobster, and hetzegopteryx.

I really like the flying fish. Specially if it has a glide similar to the meawing which will make traveling the map much easier, on water AND through bits of land as well

Syntax you can feed wyvern milk to your tanky dino to tame the paleo giga easier as it prevent bleeding

Hope the jumping spider eventually makes its way into the game.

13:54 Sometimes when a large group of hermit crabs all need new shells, the largest will find a new shell leaving his old one, and the next largest will take it. They form a long line of leaving the smaller shell for the larger shell left behind. Mass rehoming.

@snomguy actually they are known to be aggressive toward humans in the wild. And in captivity. One orca almost killed its handler by dragging her beneath the surface multiple times before letting her go. Orcas are also known to attack ships and people in the water. Plus since they are known for hunting seals and penguins it would be very easy for them to throw a human in the air with their tails

I haven't even watched the video yet but just looking at that list shastasaurus is lookin mighty fine (lobster would also be very cool)

I think the Saivodus and the Killer Whale are the coolest submissions. We need a more interesting shark in ARK, as well as a cool whale (Basilosaurus isn't related to the Killer Whale).

With every creature on the list the best ones personally look like the Hermit, shasta, and probably the lobster

I personally put my top three as the Notho, Crab, and Shasta. Notho is something I've been rooting for for awhile, though I personally would prefer it to have a design more similar to the older dossiers that it had. I also think that it's a tame that would be generally more useful. The Hermit Crab is honestly just a really cool idea, and would likewise be really useful. Then finally, I think the Shasta is one of the few prehistoric animals that I believe should already be in the game regardless. Though it takes the number 3 spot, due to it being limited to the water (a weakness that most aquatic creatures have, which would be alleviated if there was a dedicated underwater boss for all maps that have oceans).

Surprised the Center is getting one. But I guess it has its own fan base.

It's a cool map, just old and needs polishing. It was never one of my favorites, but I'm actually really excited for it because it has so much potential and it is going to look so good remade in UE5

Thoracopterus seems like a pretty manta... Hatzegopteryx powers seem really useful. Giant Hermit crab could work like an Andrewsarchus or Magmasaur, with different saddles (shells) for different things. More crustaceans would be nice.

Honestly, there are some pretty good picks here. Especially considering that its for 'The Center'. I think a couple of these creature could yield some interesting focus of water-based locations. Especially with the Shastasaurus with its submarine-like saddle. Giving players a better view of both the water environment, and a probable better opportunity to construct underwater bases.

the shastasaurus looks very interesting for end game (maybe around the size of the Leedsichthys/Astrocetus would be good with a small tek saddle type base but would need to be a fairly slow wideboy to balance things out).

Hatzegopteryx could work if they give him some crazy swimming abilities

The reason behind what those hermit crabs where doing in a line is simple,hermit crabs line up whenever they're about to change shells,biggest at the front,smallest at the back and the smaller one gets the bigger one's old shell

The orca is a neat idea to be far. Aesthetically wise its not very pleasant, however the potential abilities and taming method could be loads of fun. I think orcas are group hunters so it could be cool to have to hunt with them in order to tame them like the amarga. However to make it different the player would have tame the entire pod to achieve the max taming effectiveness. (I imagine that there are three whales in a pod).

I think we really need the crab or lobster. There is only 1 ridable aquatic crustacean currently, and that needs to change.

The Thoracoperus looked a bit like a pelican in a couple of the pictures, so it could be a big sea bird. A bird that could land on the water, or even swim under the water would be great. Also, if you want to get to the actual center of the Center map you need a large enough flyer to carry your critters to the center floating island. So a smaller, faster Quetz variation that wasn't afraid of the water but could carry some decent sized critters one at a time (or a much smaller platform saddle?) might be really useful on the Center. I also really like the hermit crab.

Creator of the Thora, thanks for going over the top 10 creatures! i just wanted to clarify something as im seeing alot of comments say its a manta or itchy 2.0, its not ment to just jump for a bit out of the water its ment to guild aswell! Best comparison you could make is a maewing, with also other abilities like invisibility and a deadly bleed. either way GL to top 10!

Syntax trying to stuff the ballot box for water creatures. Side note: I’m voting for the orca if it shows up on the Genesis map imagine not being able to find any land while a pod of those chases you. I love orcas

I think the nothosaurus has a great potential in the abyss of the center with his light kit

For the cheetah one, it apparently can run across water and uses spark powder to start the fire

I love cats so I really want a cute and pretty looking cat in the game. Sabers and thylas are cool but I just want cute. We need some more just cute creatures like the archeopteryx and Jerboa.

The image with the conga line of hermits is a known behavior of passing down shells that are to small, they line up biggest to smallest and swap shells up the line as a better way to get a bigger shell then just stumbling across one. Hermits are supper picky with there shells so these gatherings are the safest way to get a better shell they like

Thoracopterus and Nothasaurus. Notha has some serious potential to be an awesome amphibious mount. The flying fish could be super fun, unique, and colorful. Another shark could also be cool, a bigger one than the “Megaladon” (lol).

hermit crabs have a thing they do when they have grown too big for their shell. They gather in one place and all switch shells, seeing which one fits which. Thats the conga picture u saw lol!

For the orca, I wish they go with the concept of like a gentle giant where its not hostile but neutral instead. And if you attack it, it fucks you up with its power (it can have something like a ranged sound wave move that will stun enemies maybe too op but whatever)

I can't help but draw similarities between shasta and megachelon. Shasta looks pretty and flashy, but idk if it's unique enough from the chelon imo in its utility.

I personally think the Hatz would fit the whole big ocean vibes, idk it just reminds me of a nightmareish seagull, it would fit with a tropical theme finding these things hunting along the sand banks

Would be cool if the Shasta could have cord input like the gasbag. Where it could swim to where you want kinda on auto pilot

I thibk we should get them to add the hermit, shasta, lobster and the one that looks like it shoud shoot lightning underwater together. Add a under water boss of those 4 that gives the tame similar to fenrir. Those 4 would look crazy as x creatures

The nothosaurus was just added to a jwe2 dlc recently, and it has glowing abilities similar to this vote one, which is really interesting and awesome. I love nothosaurus

the lobster as a underwater purlovia is actually a really cool concept.

The quetzal type 1 is like a combined gas bags with added alert with the mechanics of the sunwing mount from horizons forbidden west

Shastasaurus really looks amazing building a base in it and putting dinos in it it’s like having a underwater base but it’s moving

the hermit crab line is the hermit crabs switching shells. the first one lets others know it found a shell and ha outgrown its original shell and they all line up to switch shells so none are wasted

i dont see a problem with the abberation creature tho. yeah there where more awsome ones like the big black spider who i really wanted in ab as a reaper counter. but to have a early game version of a rockdrake is super helpfull in abberation. if you look at pvp cluster servers with abberation alot of people use bloodstalkers or meawings. there is not really a good traveling dino for early/midgame ab. and that is were the yi ling will shine.
