The white elephant with the stars above them is the matriarch that is helping Reva guide them as her eyesight is failing her. The wavy bar is the hunger bar, if it gets to the red you'll start to starve and you won' be able to protect the young anymore.

seri if you hear a roar when in the tall bushes you need to press space or a tiger will eat a cub. crocs will eat a baby if you swim to close to them and also adults can only die from starving and the white one can not die. i hope this helped!!

The lighter your baby gets in color, the more hungry it is. You can nurse it. I don't know the control for it but make sure you feed him/her
