The red cage isnt just for aestetic reasons, but rather a very sad one. They were held in cages and enslaved as prostitutes for decades to pay for family debt. Their only way out was to get bought by a rich man as a concubine or a wife. (detailed in the girls being old) Edit :they could be as young as 7 years old. The practice of having them in cages ended in 1916.

Not all Geishas were in debt. Those were poor low rank Geishas. The Geishas which were only chosen by royalty and specific families were high rank and respected. Geisha didn't equal common prostitute in Japan.

@@meegle.teedle But also the only way to be a high-rank Oiran was to be of immaculate presentation, and be the fancy of a rich lord. Still at the end of the day it was the only path for many women without husbands and homes, to rely on their beauty and skills at applying makeup, and to sit in the cage. I did like this representation because it shows the women actually wanting money, because that's what it was, an act to be interested and horny for payment or to get bought permanently.

Dude, she is a beauty by Japanese standards at the time, just not her hair. Silky long black hair would be the ideal type tbh. And women aren’t naturally like you think they are, nowadays most girls wear at least a little bit of makeup which is designed to cover up flaws and enhance symmetry

Everyone's talking about the shadow but check out the coloration of the two sides at 6:53. That juxtaposition is amazing!

I like how the brother didn’t just brush her off, like,” oh she’s not a fuse your just delusional,” like a lot of other shows do. And then he proceeded to compliment her on finding out about the fuse herself and he was a like “MY sister did that.”

I love this animation. This cartoon 💖💖💖💖💖💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 so beautiful and crisp and clear and clean. I could watch it for ages, gives such a calming vibe this is why I love cartoons, movies and animation. The story it tells, designs and everything.

I got curious after watching this so I downloaded the Asian crush app and watched the movie. It was visually appealing but the story was some what confusing. The movie transitioned from part to part weirdly but none the less it was a beautiful movie between a human and a half bred. The end is beautiful but tbh I'm not entirely satisfied with the end of course this is my opinion so you may need to watch the movie to really see what I mean. Ps. Shino and Hamaji make a adorable couple, they should really have a better ending

Same! But I couldn't see the movie for some reason so I ended up looking elsewhere. Lol. Yeah I completely agree with the stranges transitions... and was waiting later clarifications for the plot, particularly when MC got sudden flashbacks... Anyway I did enjoy the detour KZread gave me.

The sound design is outstanding, the beginning where the crowd was louder than the courtesans was so immersive.

Glad I know a thing or two about Yoshiwara after reading some of Kimetsu no Yaiba. Really helps get a hold on what’s going on.

The full movie explains that fuse's are basically werewolves (that can mostly change at will) who can only really eat human souls. And according to the movie lore, fuse's are made by screwing a dog. Go figure.
