No one is talking about the dad who raised his son all these years only to have him snatched from him. How does he recover from that? I hope they make it a big family where he has two dads.

Exactly what I was thinking. Why didn't the natural parents invite George and Sam/Ben/? to live with them and form a new family. They could even have both sold their houses and bought a new house representing their new family. After all, George doesn't have anybody now.

It’s a horrible terrible situation but you cant force a child who grew up with a person who he sees as a father to suddenly abandon him. The better solution is to include the foster father in the family. It wasnt his fault but he still raised the kid like one of his own for 9 years.

It happen 7-8 years ago in our Costco at Laval. A mother leave her baby on the shopping cart just a 2-3 meters to grap something and the baby disappeared. The manager of the Costco close all doors and call the cops. They search every inch and all kids were screened. A couple get out if the toilet with a baby but the outfit doesn’t match the mother description. But the recognized immediately her son. The couple had plan to kidnap a baby and even brought clothes to change him. I remember how the mother when completely crazy, screaming and panicking…no ones had complaints to be stuck inside the costco. My son was only 3 at that time, I can’t imagine be in her shoes. We were all relief when they find the baby !

I adopted a sibling group when they were 3 and 9, and we didn’t just pick them up one day and have them live with us. First we met them at a restaurant, then we showed them our home, and had day visits and outings for a while. Then they would stay for the weekends. After a while we finally made the switch to us having them full time. We told their grandma and other extended family that they could come visit whenever they wanted to. The transition to our house full time took an entire summer. We worked out our own timeline with the visits, but getting them used to us gradually was required I think.

Like George had nothing to do with that awful woman who kidnapped Ben. George was just a wonderful dude who raised a kid he thought was from a previous lover of the woman he married. There is a lot of instances where the step father would have abandoned Ben. George is such a kind and sweet soul that he adopted him and raised him. The biological family should have been more sensible with integrating Ben back into their lives. The bio parents didn’t consider Ben’s feelings only until later and that was JUST the bio Mother. And the biological parents not considering George a dad too for Ben is just heartless. This man was a saint and raised a child as a SINGLE parent who wasn’t even his by blood and adopted Ben. Ben going back to his ‘bio’ family is just some shit that ‘blood is thicker than water’ blood family propaganda.

Was there a reason she had to bring kids to a reunion? No one else seemed to bring their children so I’m confused why they are all there. I mean it’s only for one day and she’ll be around her classmates probably drinking and catching up. Odd start

@@loricreed yet the script is also written to tug at your emotions. I mean people have panic attacks when they lose their phones, imagine a child. But before an emotion of any takes over my logic came first and was like huh this still makes no sense. It’s like ‘Nah fam, mommy is having her night out.’ I remember seeing this movie once years ago. I do remember a screaming match between the mom and dad and how he basically blamed her for the son going missing. I just can’t remember why he wasnt available or the kids didn’t stay with a babysitter. But it might be like what the other person above said-the times, I guess.

Recently, a child disappeared from a hotel swimming pool area. The hotel obstructed the search refusing to allow review of CCTV coverage. Turns out child was sucked into the pool recycling drainage system. Similar situation here at a local aqua-park w/illegal larger than code recycling drainage system... Child's body also sucked in & torn apart. Disgustingly, responsible persons never prosecuted. Just corporate fines & lawsuit damages for money.

I think the parents should have been happy atleast the boy was happy and healthy, but no I don’t think the boy should have stayed with George, he was kidnapped in a terrible situation even if he didn’t actually do it. But I think they should have slowly transitioned him into the family, and let George be in his life too. He was a young boy afterall, he would’ve gotten used to them.

I still can’t believe that Ben can’t remember anything from his three year old life? He can’t remember his real parents? Like seriously?? No one is talking about this and I believe it is a plot hole. For sure he would have asked for toddler pictures or baby pictures from his kidnapper or George. Or he could at least ask for family pictures from his real family the moment they were reunited as proof. Like why can’t the child remember those things? And it was only towards the end of the movie that he remembered through a distinct scent from an old trunk. 🙄

Let’s compare this married couple to a modern-day couple: couples nowadays would divorce eachother because the trauma is way too “stressful” on their relationship. By God, our world is falling apart What ever happened to “Till Death do us part”?

  • @Skully_Boi

Modern-day relationships are too unique. There are so many people that have been raised in broken families with parents that hated eachother and they wouldn't wish that on their offspring, so they split. On the other hand, theirs scummy relationships where both partners would start abusing eachother, cheat etc. My biggest takeaway from it is that no matter where u find the "blame" for it, the pain will still remain. Unless both parties can deal with the pain in a healthy matter, it's best to part ways to not inflict more pain on each other or their kids. Staying together would be a selfish act. A real Adult would know your Children come first no matter tradition, vows, or your marriage.

@@Skully_Boi then what is the point of your vows. Might as well not get married at all and bare a child out of wedlock. Peeps take marriage for granted these days. Especially the women out here. And due to Western court systems, the man gets the short end of the stick.

  • @Skully_Boi

@Ace-is7ww the whole idea of marriage in general is just a tradition . Some people now a days dont even get married and just raise their kids amicably. Personally, if i was ever put into a spot like that, i would value my kid's childhood over the tradition of marriage. Im only human, and I've made and will continue to make mistakes. I'm not gonna pretend like my partner is anything different than me. In a perfect world, people would be faithful to each other, protect their integrity, and look out for their offspring. But the world isn't like that but atleast we can teach our kids not to be like us ,to strive to be better and to not make our mistakes. I would love to see my kids one day get married and have a happy life i sure as hell dont want them to neglect their kids like my parents did to me.

I know this is a movie, therefore not entirely realistic. But this is what I imagine always happens. The kid doesn’t really care if his parents are blood related to him. The parents shouldn’t either. When my mother beats her chest and says it’s a mother instinct to know her spawn. I just don’t believe it. Such 6th sense hasn’t been proven by science. Shit ending though. He should have stayed with George, but had thanksgivings together, all families.
