How much I agree! I didn't notice the name change till you told it, I do remember California TV and was confused at the change, but I got over it! I too thought it was just for people in CA, but once I started watching I subscribed! You have so much to offer in both channels, and the new name is perfect to describe your dreams and efforts. Congratulations on another great shoot with the School of Traditional Skills - they don't have just anyone on there to represent them! 😊

Changing your name can bring trepidation, but the new name fits like a glove and will inspire people with small acreage to give gardening a try. 👍

When you actually think about it, NEXT LEVEL sounds a lot like corporate advancement. LITTLE HOMESTEAD, BIG DREAMS has the cozy feel of your place. I notice how many comments refer to it as their happy refuge. For some reason, I find myself often visiting your videos in late evening. It is a great way to close the day, especially if the day has been difficult. Thank you for letting us share the dream.

I live in Australia and my dream has always to live like you do,always wanted a cow named daisy too. Im 63 and live in a minuscule house with a tiny garden but have started growing fruit trees and vegies and my "farm animals" are 2 rescue house rabbits, 1 rescue dog and a horde of wild magpies. Great show mate 👏 👍

You're a SUPERSTAR!!! Can I have your autograph??? LOL...I just ABSOLUTELY LOVE this channel, no matter what you name it (love the new name by the way). No matter how bad of a day I'm having, just watching you, Emilie, Noah and all the precious, sweet babies you have makes me smile and makes me feel so much better!! I don't think yall know just how much yall mean to me and how much I love yall...you have taught me so much and I appreciate yall more that you'll ever know. Since October, 2023 I have become partially disabled and on those days when I want to just give up, your channel has encouraged me to fight through the pain, keep my balance as best I can and plant my little garden. I have to garden sitting in a chair because I can't get around like I used to, but you have been my "push" that gets me through. Love yall!!!!

I certainly understand what you are saying. I'm recovering from several fractures in my vertebrae. I can't do some simple tasks like I used to do. Sometimes I just want to quit because I get so frustrated. Then I watch these videos and they encourage me to keep going no matter how much pain I'm in. God bless you, keep doing as much as you can. Remember if you don't use it you loose it. My garden is my physical therapist and my psychologist all in one. Have a great gardening day.

"No garden is ever complete." Perfectly said. The new name feels really comfortable and inspiring and also kinda sweet. And completely appropriate. I'm one of the folks that remembers watching the tomato videos on California Garden Tv and getting hooked. I think the new moniker is great and hope it helps attract like-minded, kind individuals thirsty to learn and share and enjoy your company. Best of luck.

Great name change. Yes, it can be unnerving to be around big cattle. You can’t show fear, they know. My family raise beef cattle, I am fourth generation. Daisy most likely would not ram you, because you have her like a pet, but it is always best to be on alert. 😊

Can't believe you've been there for 3 years. Wow, you've accomplished so much. The new name is perfect. We have bull snakes that kill rattle snakes here in CO. They look similar in design to me.

I love how Bella goes in and meets the sheep in the morning. Glad everything went pretty good. 🌺

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE NAME CHANGE. I've been following you now for over 4 years Brian. You are my inspiration for my little tiny garden next to the pool in my backyard here in suburban Fullerton. I have turned on my daughter to your channel as we have helped her buy 4 acres up in Greenwood, CA. about an hour east of Sacramento. She is working on fencing the property now. The property came with a barn, a chicken coop and a goat house. We have plans. She is going to parcel an acre off from that land and we are going to build on it. I didn't even pay attention to the name, I clicked on your picture, because well, it was you, so therefore was going to be a good video. And I think that many of us who came over from NLG, just felt that NLH was an extension of the other channel, an easy way for you to "guide us" to the new channel. If you had started this channel with this name, I don't know how soon I would have found it.

I love Emily, ❤❤ She is hilarious.😂 "Hiding like a creeper." We heard that getting rid of the grubs helps with the gophers. I hate gophers. So excited by whet you've done in 3 years. Your cottage garden is gorgeous.

The way you opened this video, with the cottage all lit up, was beautiful and peaceful. Those hydrangeas are gorgeous; I can hardly wait for the building of their raised bed and the planting of them! The cottage garden is really starting to come into its own and is so pretty. Those roses! You were right; all those buds just exploded. I am one of the ones that never went to your “California” garden channel b/c I thought it pertained to CA gardening. But alas found you as Next Level Gardening of course thru a tomato video! I love the homestead channel name change and think you will never regret changing it. I look forward to seeing your new class on school of traditional skills.

The name is spot on! It's totally self explanatory! I'm 67 (if you tell anyone I'll have to hurt you!), and have gardened in one form or another for more years than I want to say. Raised on a farm but live in town. But I love your videos, I always learn something, especially for veggies, but flowering plants as well. The ONLY thing I would add is if you mention any differences for more Midwestern areas, kind of like, "by the way"! I'm in MN so any of that would be great. Love those dang cute O & O - seriously jealous. And moo cow and pup are very entertaining as well. Easy to tell you love them! Enjoy and prosper!!!

Daisy looked mad! Daisy being a little ornery may not be encouraging, but it made us laugh. 🙂 We like the new name and still love the channel and the fact that we also get to see the behind the scenes and the realness of y'all and your adventure!

I get nights like that also. If I don't get out of bet I just get headaches so I start my day off extra early! Great video today! All snakes but rattle snakes are welcome at my home. Just a different kind of wildlife. Good name change. I live on a one acre plot and I do gardening and have some livestock. My dreams are still being worked out even though I am 74. I love your mini cow but I have chosen not to get any more animals that might outlive me. I love watching her. Always wanted a cow but never got around to getting one. So except for some new chickens, my new animal days are over.

Small level homestead would sound similar to next level ...

Your garden looks so wonderful. All your hard work is paying off. Hopefully the name change will add more views. Your size homestead is about what we have here. I feel I might one day be able to make more from what we have. Hope your classes go well. I looked at the school of Traditional skills and enjoyed the free videos. I just get overwhelmed with all the information.

Snakes! I lived in rural Lake Mathews for 18 years. I also raised parrots in outdoor aviaries. Mice were attracted to the seed that fell to the ground, and of course, snakes and roadrunners were attracted to the mice. I used to joke that I had the top snake real estate in Lake Mathews. Fortunately, I like snakes. When the weather was warm, I would see one to two on average every day. Most were California king snakes. They're not very friendly, but they're sure pretty. I also had Rosy Boas, gopher, garter, coachwhips, and during that time frame, I was aware of five rattlesnakes in my yard. 5 in 18 years is not too bad. As long as you keep your Pathways clear of brush and you are snake aware when the weather is warm, you should be fine. Embrace the nature around you! 😊

The new channel name is a PERFECT description of what your channel represents. I love how all the animals follow you around but, yes, Daisy chasing me would be intimidating. She looks so different without her fluffy winter coat. I don't think you could put out a video that is too short nor too long - we will watch them all! Can't wait to see the cottage and veggie gardens finished(ish). Note on snakes: we have both king and black snakes here in NC. We like them because they eat copperheads. I've heard you can also use them to train your dog to stay away from all snake (since they are nonaggressive and nonvenomous) but I don't know the proper method (I need to find someone smarter than me for this).

Thoroughly enjoyed today's video, and Daisy and the boys. I love your new name a well! I'm in an HOA so my yard is small. I have 2 4×8 raised beds, lots of grow bags, a back patio, with still enough room for a lawn and a15ft round pool. Can't complain at all. I'm blessed! And yes, a garden is never complete.

Although I like the new name I feel like it doesn’t capture the fact that you seem to be a professional gardener and the level of your content is much better than many other “home gardeners” I’ve watched on here. I honestly think the channel would thrive with a different name that captures that.

Hey my dear.. I didn't realize what Utube was until the summer of 2022... & man, do I wish I had known all the gardening stuff I've learned from you and a number of others > people I have come to realize we watch in common.. & others.. all of you inclusive & knowledgeable (I don't watch many if they aren't) So.. long as you let us know where you are "going" I'm sure we will all follow.. & love.. I'm zone 5, southern Ontario.. so we are now into spring where many things like tomatoes, broccoli, full size onions, etc in.. peppers will need covering cuz it can be down to 9/10°C (48-50°F) and with the weather change next week ~ too early for cuts, without protection.. But.. my peas & potatoes, lettuce, kale & half my full size onions that I've been planting over the last 6 weeks ate doing Amazing.. all thanks to a little knowledge gained from you & a few others.. Saw my 1st pea flower today.. & I'm sure many will follow.. ❤ thank U !!! Old dogs can learn new tricks apparently.. 😉

i used to have a cal king snake. they are awesome. i never care about names and labels but it seems to me that your new name is more descriptive of what you are about so i think it is a good move. people underestimate how much you can produce in one acre of land. i produce 90% of what i eat and have extra to sell and give away. love your critters 🙂

I love the new name. It's spot on for me since I am on a standard city lot here in San Diego. It's mine free and clear. I started my retirement garden 4 1/2 years ago and I've expanded my garden year after year, little by little. It took me a bit of time but after passing on some advise from Brian ;-) my husband said yes to turning our front yard into garden space. It gets the best sun on our property and the summer of a poor tomato harvest helped convince him also. (Thanks Brian 😊). ~ Rhonda

Oh! Brian a California king AWSOME! ME and my husband saved one that got tangled up in our bird netting that I had over our peach tree. Yes we saved it! By cutting the netting off its whole body because they are a good and beautiful snake to have on your property. They kill and eat rattlesnakes.
