BooBop1987 Really? I didn't think the book was scary.
there was once an invisible man... who had grown tired of being unseen... It's not that he was actually invisible... It's that people had become used to not seeing him... One day the invisible man couldn't stand it anymore... he kept wondering, if no one sees you... are you really there at all? what did the invisible man do? He called... for a MONSTER...

A man was invisible because no one ever saw him. Tired of this, he summoned the Monster to ensure people would notice him. Though people now notice him, the man finds himself more alone than before.

But it's the kind of alone that a man can live with.
If you really think about, Harry was right about Connor wanting to get bullied. He allowed it not because he was scared, but because he felt he deserved it. He never fought back, but that’s what Harry was wanting out of him. When he kept refusing to fight back, that’s when Harry got bored and felt the only way to *really* hurt Connor was by dismissing his existence altogether.
@librvr

Harry wasn't bored. He wanted to hurt Connor as much as he could. He knew calling him invisible would hurt the most. But you are right about the rest.

The book is amazing and the film a marvel! This is my favorite scene, especially since I know what it means to be bullied.
This is why bullies run in packs. They're cowards as individuals. I found this out for myself, when I hit a bully in the mouth. Yes, he pounded me into the floor, but I laughed at him while he did it, and he never touched me again.
I like how Conner and the monster have a telepathic relationship like when Conner moves the monster moves Like Elliot and E.T.
This is the ONLY movie that made me full on sob in the theater, and I've watched MANY depressing movies. What a great film. Never watching it again.
This movie moves me to tears...every time I see what Conor (Lewis) is enduring. Such good acting by Lewis!
The movie at the end is sad as fuck. I sobbed in front of my friends.

This looks like the type of film I'd like to watch. looked creepy at first then it really became interesting.
Jesus, seeing this part of the story come to life is a lot scarier than reading it in the book.
remember reading this in year 6
I want to watch it, but i know i'll cry, and i don't want to cry... :(
2:09 If I was there I'd run for my life and try to call The Guardians of the Galaxy. Maybe Groot could try talking some sense into the Monster.
I've been "invisible" for nearly 20 years. It has it's advantages.

Adam Yusuf in the book, Connor feels ignored and invisible at school. So Harry(the Bully) figured it out, thus telling Connor yes he is invisible and nobody cares for him "he no longer sees him"

Adam Yusuf basically, harry (the kid who said that quote) does not care about him i guess
@micahsnow346
7 жыл бұрын
Adam Yusuf It's actually deeper than that...a bit of a spoiler alert but I think it's necessary to answer your question. Harry understands him to a certain level- he tells Connor that "all you want is for your head to get kicked in" which is, in some ways, true. Connor spends a lot of the book feeling the need for punishment...I haven't read the book in a while but I believe that after this scene (where he wrecks the cafeteria) the principal let's him off because of all he's going through with his mom. But Connor doesn't want pity (and he really, truly does not want to be ignored). The truth that we learn at the end is that Connor has a lot of guilt about something that makes him feel as if he deserves punishment (I think that most of the time when he unleashes his anger he's angry at himself). I won't tell you what that is- that'd give away the heart of the story.
