A Mission to Change Cycling | Justin Williams & L39ION of LA
Спорт

Justin Williams has spent virtually his entire life in the world of competitive cycling. Growing up in Los Angeles, the 33-year-old's experience and introduction to the sport was far different from his peers who may have grown up overseas in Europe, especially when representation in the sport has been challenging.
“This documentary is the journey of me going so far beyond myself and pushing so far past what's reasonable that my season gets worse and worse and worse and worse. And even through all of that, I found a way to enjoy it.”
- Justin Williams

I'm not a road rider, I love my trails but I really enjoyed this. It's awesome and a new perspective on riding vs the normal stereotypes of road riding/racers. As Aman of color who rides this is great to see. It was a great message, balance and rest is so important in sports or you'll burn out/ get injured. Love this video 🤙🏿🚵
Thanks for the upload Justin n Corey. You guys are definitely my biggest inspiration for getting into the sport of cycling since.2016. The perspective that you all bring with crit racing, & how you tell your story is fascinating. Till 2016 ive only ever played basketball. Thanks 2 all, i found a new favorite sport🚴♀️.From Houston, Keep it up yall, real talk.
I have watched the Williams brothers for a while now and have noticed the sponsors are getting better and better! Huge congratulations to Justin and his whole team for changing the sport up. From a huge fan in New Zealand!

Been a cyclist for a long time. Didn't start watching competitive cycling until the Williams Brothers brought it front and center. Keep up the good work

@@ericmosher6969 No one wants to see legion win or prosper. I watched this video within 24 hours of it uploading. Already there were people posting hating comments. "What about the fight" "They wouldn't make it in Europe" "All they do is sandbag" It's these same comments on pretty much every video about them. People, mostly white men, always are the ones to leave negative comments. They simply don't want legion to have any recognition or praise. They have a desire to see them lose. They have a desire to poke a hole in their reputation. And that's why they run to the comments to post these passive aggressive comments that "aren't racist". Just like durianrider "coincidentally" asking if either of the Williams brothers were convicts. But, the fact that these sorts of things are said is exactly why people of color support them. The fact that they have to deal with the racism for no other reason than succeeding at what they do shows why there needs to be more diversity. The average cyclist of color would have to deal with the slick comments all day if there weren't enough people of color.

@@andrewhall9852 nail head, the original commenter has gone through any comment relating the violence/marketing/forced diversity and claimed racism. He’s a race baiting idiot that thinks a lack of diversity means there must be racism. Fact is black people think road biking is pretty gay, as do I. What you have said is 100%. They are a marketing exercise, it’s actually pretty racist in itself.
@geraldtone5914

@@andrewhall9852 I can already tell that "altercation" where no one was hurt is gonna be used against Legion forever. Legion does promote diversity. Cycling is a predominantly white sport. When you get people of color who join the sport and dominate their sector, it will entice other people of color to join. A large portion of that is marketing and pr. I don't know why everyone is making such a big deal out of it. On every video about Legion there are people who come to the videos specifically to leave negative comments. Their is a racist undertone to it. I don't think any other cycling figures (Norcal cycling, vegan cyclist, etc) get this much criticism.

@@geraldtone5914 Seriously - I don't know your cycling experience but I use to race on the east-coast circuit from the late 80's thru 2000 & there was plenty of diversity in the fields. It has nothing to do about race - it's about Legion as a team, the way they race and their demeanor - listening to Stars & Stripes jersey holder Kendall Ryan after she won the Littleton crit where she told everyone to F-off is not promoting the sport as much as their own self-egos...Honestly Legion is ruining the sport, not making it better

@@notreally2406 Track racing is track racing and road racing is road racing. Track cycling includes individual pursuit, points race, scratch, sprint, time trial, keirin, omnium, team pursuit, team sprint and madison. Road racing includes road race, time trial, circuit racing (criterium, kermesse). So, to dispel your previous comment, crit racing is not like track cycling and is not its own thing. Can you imagine the amount of heat build up in your head with a helmet like that on a long, hot day? I think good road helmets offer enough protection but of course other styles offer more protection. Been using a Uvex helmet for horse riding which is pretty much the same helmet they market for e-bikers but there is no way I’d use that for sporty cycling
You should consider competing outside the US.... just an idea, just to get the feeling of the real cycling... then, and only then, all this hype and propaganda would make any sense. Great product building and campaign though.
