I watched your 2021 baby monitor review video and this one, and it helped me sort through the thousands of Amazon products. I've decided to buy the Miku Pro.

I’m so glad they made the updates they did! Thanks for the review 😊 I’ve read mixed information in regards to if the monitor will still work if the WiFi is not connected with the example of a power outage. I’ve read it won’t send alerts or monitor breathing in that case but you can still view the live video function. Is this correct?

I posted a response to the video that you should read. It is important to understand that WiFi is not internet. If you don't have power then nothing electrical can work. If you don't have internet but you have power you should have a WiFi network that is not connected to the internet. Devices connected to that WiFi network *should* be able to talk to each other unless the developer has designed things in such a way as to require internet connectivity. Miku has designed things in such a way as to require internet connectivity.

Dang, I did a tone of research before purchasing the original Miku back at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, even after moving a top of the line router into the room with fiber optic internet, the Miku still had connection issues. The lack of features also were a bigger deal as well. Pinch to zoom, iPad support, customized notification, and others. I ended up returning it and got the Nanit Pro right when it came out in place of the Miku. I would love to have the Miku pro now because the no wearables needed is the major selling point. the Nanit pro does come with a free band and they have great promos for (3 free swaddles). But I recently learned that a subscription is needed to use the breathing motion. This is a big turn off for me. If the Miku Pro was out earlier in the year it would have been my choice. Overall the Miku Pro is everything I was hoping for with the Original Miku but without the issues it has. Oh well, I think the Nanit pro is still at least just as good overall. I would love to see a comparison video between the two pro models. I would even like to know which one is faster/more accurate with the breathing readings and alerts. Thanks for the great video! As a new Dad you are one of my top Dad KZreadrs. Keep up the great content and videos!

Do you feel the WiFi hardware enhancements to the miku pro improve the WiFi connection? Or do you feel the app updates itself attribute to the improved connections. Bought the miku pro and after using it daily since August, I wish I could return/resell it. The app is extremely buggy, can’t trust it to continue monitoring because app will crash, always wrong with the no movement alerts because it can’t tell if the baby is even in the crib when triggering.

I got this week ago and returned it today. It suddenly stopped working for me with “miku is offline” from that point, it never got connected again with weird “Wi-Fi password is incorrect”. Such a let down, they should invest more on their app. If they fixed this fundamentals connection issue, hands down this is the best baby monitor.

Hmmm. So this points to some suspicions I had regarding the first iteration of hardware having some fundamental issues that kept it from operating as intended. It seems odd to have done such a complete overhaul when most of what is included in this new Rev is actually how the first was marketed. The software overhaul, for instance, is something you would perceive being achievable with the the first release (I was actually promised), yet here we are being asked to pay hundreds more dollars? Or is the new software also backwards compatible with the first release?

From Miku support when I contacted them about not being able to use the monitor during an internet service outage: "With respect to accessing the video, Miku requires Internet, and not simply WiFi Access. An adhoc network where there is a powered router transmitting information internally will not be able to view the baby's feed, as the information first goes to one of our servers and then viewed from the user's device(s)." For some reason this is confusing for people but WiFi is not internet. WiFi is like your state highways and Internet is like Interstate highways. It's not a perfect analogy but from a technical perspective two devices on the same WiFi network should be able to communicate with each other, regardless of the status of your internet connection. Miku has short-sightedly built in a functional dependency on the internet which can go down for any number of reasons for any number of days. Nanit functions whether you have an internet connection or not. I have a Miku Pro, I am now buying a Nanit. I would absolutely avoid this device until this issue is resolved.

In the last two months we’ve had the fortune )or frustration) of using the original Miku, the Nanit Pro and now finally the Miku Pro. Feels like the Miku Pro is finally the best of both worlds. We had the original Miku & Nanit Pro - appreciate the resolution and zoom features on the Nanit but no way we’re gonna throw on a Nanit swaddle / wrap every time we set the baby down for a nap. Also, the build feels lower quality - plastic base, camera and stand. Also the one time our internet went out, the Nanit would not reconnect without us unplugging it - vs the Miku sent us an email saying it was offline and then reconnected automatically when the network was back up. Also, the Nanit’s clips are trimmed and compressed - instead of 30 seconds of real time video it’s like a stop motion highlight of what happened. The Miku Pro thankfully connects SO much quicker than the original, has the improved resolution and pinch to zoom, a meaningful wider field of view, all to go along with the amazing build quality of the original camera and floor stand.
