I'm usually not into mass market paperbacks, but The Shadow Campaigns series has very nice matte covers, at least the three that I own. I really liked the first two books!

I only own seven special editions of five different books that hold very special places in my heart. I am very picky with the special editions I buy. There's a lot of stunning editions of books out there but weirdly, I only truly fall in love with a special edition if I love the book itself too. That being said, the Owlcrate edition of The Fragile Threads of Power by V. E. Schwab is EASILY my favourite (and most expensive lol) special edition on my shelf. I love the Shades of Magic world with my whole soul and TFToP felt so special to me, plus I think the Owlcrate edition is absolutely gorgeous. Every now and then I walk past my booksehlf and stop and just stare at that book for a moment and it makes me smile lol. Also, I agree to what you said about what the publishing industry is doing with extra chapters and special editions. Readers shouldn't feel pressured to buy 7 different (expensive) editions just to get all the content or else they'll be left out. Not everyone even has the opportunity (due to income or shipping) to do that. It feels unfair.

I only have a few special editions, but I’m obsessed with the ones I have!! I recently got the fancy paperbacks of Ninth House and Hell Bent from B&N with sprayed edges. And in April I’ll be getting them signed (along with my first edition Crooked Kingdom also with sprayed edges), I’m beyond excited! The only other one I have is the Cruel Prince special edition with the black velvet. I’m obsessed. Had to have it as soon as I saw it. Love all your special editions as well, they’re so fun to have ❤️

i still think Priory of the Orange tree takes my #1 spot as the most beautiful book cover in my eyes, but I will always be a fan of Blue Lily, Lily Blue of the raven cycle series bc thats my alltime favorite series

'Da' is yes in russia, in germany we say 'ja'. 😁 It's cool that a german book edition is popular in America. Here in Germany we are always on the hunt for special english editions. 😅 For me I love beautiful designs, but I don't want spend space in my shelf for books that are only pretty from the outside. The story has to catch me also.

@@cassandralynnreads No, everything alright. My english isn't perfect as well 😅 I would found it interesting if some americans would start to learn german because of "Fourth Wing". 😅 In germany we start to read english books because we can't wait to get the translation in our hands.

I don't have any super fancy special editions, but earlier today I found a secondhand copy of Six of Crows with black sprayed edges for $7 at a local bookstore. 🥰 I mostly use the library. (My local library is conveniently located right next to the aforementioned bookstore.) I am slowly building up my collection, but I get more of a thrill out of using the library and finding books I love secondhand. Feels a bit like winning the lottery when I find a nice copy of something! Anyway, I really enjoy your videos and hearing you talk about books!

The only special editions of books I've bought were the Slytherin colors of HP (before I realized JKR was trash), and the 2019 movie version of "Little Women." Although I am going to buy the newest hardback editions of Tamora Pierce's "Song of the Lioness" quartet because 1) she's been my fave author for almost 24 years, and 2) the new art is SO much better than the editions that have been released since the 90s covers.

I wanted to enjoy Hobbs writing so bad but just couldn't 😭

my favorite special edition is...prolly the barnes and noble exclusive edition of Eragon not because it looks so different on the outside... but it has a full color map on the inside and I got it when I went and actually met and talked to Christopher Paolini and it is signed. its because of the memories I have meeting the author and the fact that its signed! Also he took a picture of me in my shirt and posted it on his twitter because I had an eragon shirt!

I don't know what the illustrators are on in Germany but they have been popping off with their book designs!

Not a special edition but my favorite book cover is the UK edition of The Hobbit from when I was a kid.

My Dad made me read it when I was a kid and that book is probably the reason I love fantasy to this day.

My favorite edition I have is the Fourth Wing edition with the dragon sprayed edges. I saw them at Target before the book got so popular and knew I wanted to check out the book because I enjoy a good fantasy read.

I LOVE the dragon sprayed edges! I had managed to nab it at HPB because an employee showed my friend & I and we were both immediately sold.

I relate so much with loving The Spanish Love Deception but not vibing with the other books. I ended up dnfing The Long Game 😭

OMG yay that makes me so happy!

Walmart is jumping on the bandwagon with the special chapters and special content. I love the special edititons that are so pretty but I won't buy them if I'm not in love with the book. I watch people and they say they didn't like the book but keep them because the conver or the edges were pretty.

If I love the cover art & didn't enjoy the book but already own them, I'm def more likely to keep them haha. (UK editions of Six Crimson Cranes is a perfect example lol). But you won't catch me buying the pretty editions even after not enjoying a book haha. Walmart & Target with the BS bonus chapters ugh
