Here are the prices I found online: 1) Chelsea Hotel: no price given 2) Gotham: all cocktails are $21 3) Le Rock: all cocktails are $22 4) Tigre: no prices given (or anything else, not even an address) 5) Sunken Harbor: all martinis are $20 6) Dante: $20 7) Bemelman's Bar: $35-$65 8) Aretsky's Patroon: $19 (I realized I missed one, but Shteyngart's voice was so slurred when he said the name of the bar and, unlike all the other bars, there was no sign shown.)

I just read the article, and was tickled to see this video while scrolling through KZread. I’ve never been a martini drinker, but this has made me want to be. I had no idea there were so many iterations of the stories drink.

New Yorker here who loves martinis - a $16 martini in Manhattan is a deal, $22-28 is more likely price.

As a New Yorker (and reader of) and an avid Martini drinker, I wish this was a better piece. Drunk or not, if you’re exploring or honoring the Martini, you should have spent a few more beats at Bemelman’s. More shtick than substance.
