This (1966) comedy / thriller directed by Ronald Neame featured James Garner as an American businessman mistaken for a secret agent.Tony Franciosa co stars and the love interest comes in the shapely forms of both Melina Mercouri and Sandra Dee. The sparkling music score was composed and conducted by the great Bert Kaemfert and features ''Strangers in the Night'', which became a major hit for a certain Mr. Sinatra.

Thanks Mike, it's one of those scores that is easily dismissed on the basis of the hit song, but on closer listening, it's a damn fine score.

***** Who knew that Bert Kaemfert could compose a score like this. Once again my musical prejudice got in the way. One should never "assume" stuff. Like the saying goes....it make an ass out of you and me.
Thanks Val... You always post the coolest soundtracks... I'm still hunting for "Murderers' Row" on CD... this ST sounds like it's worth tracking down too... Thnx again...
This is great. It's one of those scores like Stiletto and The Love Machine that were so ubiquitous that I never bothered buying them - more fool me!

It's a shame that Kaempfert didn't pursue a career in film scoring like his contemporary Les Baxter, as he certainly had the required talent.

+Valdez244 Interesting film and score, dont recall seeing it before. The pic of James Garner in the car in the swimming pool is not from the movie but from one he did with Doris Day ;-)
