I used to think that the death penalty was justified (am Usa) but the problem I have with it. Is that at least here the cost of the death penalty vs the appeals process means that the overall cost in not that much different. Also, the prosecutors tend to have a political motivation to do a high-profile death penalty in an election year in order to garner public attention so all things considered if you may make a mistake why not err on the side of life in prison.
