    Logan - what has been your experience so far with overheating? Here in Texas (and even when I took it across country throughout the southwest), I regularly experience overheating with the Comma 2. It quite often overheats even when I take care to dismount it from the windshield but keep it in the car. This is my number one gripe about the C2 device.

  • @LoganLeGrand

    @LoganLeGrand

    3 жыл бұрын

    I would wait a bit to see. It runs much cooler than the C2 but currently software limits are set the same. I’m unsure of how much testing Comma has done in high heat as of yet. I wouldn’t mind seeing the thermal limits set higher to see how it performs. I have a feeling it will hold up much better.

    360 degree view -- what do you think about tinted windows impacting its ability to create capabilities in the future, or even how it might limit it now -- will tinted windows create difficulties for accuracy, when other cars are in frame, and trying to notice those cars -- did any of the testers have tinted windows; did comma ask you about your car (prius, correct) and if it had tinted windows before offering the opportunity to test in the field thanks

  • @LoganLeGrand

    @LoganLeGrand

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hard to say if that will ever be a feature. Comma talks about it but as you said there are a lot of ways the view could be blocked. They would probably recommend not having tint if they eventually implement blind spot monitoring thru the DM camera.

  • @jrein59

    I saw your video with Andy Slye and saw openpilot struggle with tighter curves as it lost its view of the road…obviously the corolla has all the steering torque you need but does the c3 with the wide angle lens take curves like that without losing the view of the road?

  • @LoganLeGrand

    @LoganLeGrand

    3 жыл бұрын

    Since then it has gotten a lot better at predicting path outside of the model view and it actually drives a lot smoother. Currently it isn’t using the wide angled lens for driving until enough data is gathered to train a model with. Driving model is still cropped in and limited. Comma has yet to find improvements with a bigger model in testing. I’m sure eventually it will happen but good longitudinal will need to be there as well to help it navigate turns with the limited torque available.

    I have followed comma for awhile, but never owned one. I’ve always been a bit confused by their system especially now with George saying they’ll reach level 5 self driving. I don’t see how they can if they’re limited to the steering torque of whatever car it’s installed on. I see the neat things they’re doing, but no matter what they’re locked into whatever car it’s installed in right?

  • @LoganLeGrand

    @LoganLeGrand

    3 жыл бұрын

    Level 5 is a long way away. So many other things limit the car besides just the steering torque. When that becomes the limiting factor it will be easy to deal with. The C3 won’t be anything but level 2. We are a long long way from reaching the limits of even what basic level 2 can be. Good end 2 end longitudinal control needs to happen first.
