I'd like to see them slow down and stand taller on the runway. My grandmother was a top model in Miami in 1936. She was 18 but a ”sophisticate”. This was my mothers generation. That's why I love 1950s movies. I was born in 1959!

Wow, these girls are so much more normal looking than the models of today! I don't think I have ever seen a model on the runway (today) who isn't so dramatic while walking. These ladies are more classic, poised and elegant. Today, if you don't have all-out, frizzed-up hairstyles and leaned back catwalks, you are out of the business. It's all about aneroxia and strutting so that your "hips" (if any) are swinging from side to side. How times have changed!

Or, to the observer, it's the one who looks prettier doing it that stands out like a rose. Oh, what a joy!!!

Or, if they wanted to, they can go faster to see who can keep up with the other girls without getting tired to show who has the most stamina. The true strength of a woman who is athletic is my kind of girl.

It is just interesting how differently they are perceived, when they really share a lot of similarities.

VS models are actually some of the healthiest models at the moment. They focus on healthy diet and exercise (believe it or not, they don't undereat or over exercise; they are just very disciplined and consistent with it.), good grooming and femininity. I don't understand the hate they get, they are actually promoting rather healthy lifestyles. I think it is the shape that is tricking your eye. Back then, the classic model figure was hourglass. There were more focus on curves, but they were no more than 10 pounds heavier than VS models, at the most. Today, the classic model have a more rectangular figure. I am guessing it became popular with the rise of feminism, since 'heroin chic' started around that time. Never understood the obsession with weight either. A healthy weight will depend entirely on your height and body composition, and muscles weigh more than fat. Why not bring out the best in your body, instead of beating it into something it is not? Every body can be attractive, if it is well taken care of. You can actually learn a lot from both these models, and the VS models on how to do this. :)

At that time they were all born female and had the skeletal and other anatomies of women including thighs which meet, hips as wide as the shoulders, heads which would fit across the shoulders only 2 to 2.5 times not 3 times, not such long limbs nor large feet and hands, and much else. They weren't m2f which almost all today are.

I would not assume, as one commentator did, that none of these models is anorexic or has some other eating/body dysphoria issue. One of them has a big bruise on her outer thigh. My sister was anorexic and bruises is a telling sign. Of course, the model-to-be might have bumped into something. But the bruising might be a sign of an underlying health problem.

Where to begin? I didn’t know mannequins were real people. Limbs will be effortlessly supple. The moving disembodied legs were hilarious. I love how the minute you turn 27 you’re out. The girl in the full blue dress, stumbled a bit when she tried to do the “rocking turn”. Those dresses are quite lovely when the girl has a little bit of swing to her hips when she walks. I’ve always wondered how to carry an umbrella without a “trace of awkwardness”. That wink at the end was a bit overdone. Haha. All in all still quite entertaining.

They may lack the elegance of previous decades but I think it is worth it for the sake of equality. They were slim, but not as thin as many models are today. Back then, it was more about having the right curves (hourglass), whereas the modern model tends to have more of a rectangular figure. The closest thing today would actually be Victorias Secret models, maybe +10 pounds. They tend to cast women with more curves/feminine figures than high fashion brands, and have a high focus on a good diet and the right exercises to shape the body.
