It’s interesting to look at real Unphotoshopped and unedited people
Now this kind of modeling school makes sense to me.
I'd like to see them slow down and stand taller on the runway. My grandmother was a top model in Miami in 1936. She was 18 but a ”sophisticate”. This was my mothers generation. That's why I love 1950s movies. I was born in 1959!
i love how they all look genuinely healthy, not sickly skinny or twigs. natural!
practising gymnastics with red lipstick on.. i love it!
This time youtube trully gave a best suggestion

The reason is that they weren't male to female, which almost all of them today are.
Wow, these girls are so much more normal looking than the models of today! I don't think I have ever seen a model on the runway (today) who isn't so dramatic while walking. These ladies are more classic, poised and elegant. Today, if you don't have all-out, frizzed-up hairstyles and leaned back catwalks, you are out of the business. It's all about aneroxia and strutting so that your "hips" (if any) are swinging from side to side. How times have changed!

Because then they were born female. They weren't male to female, which almost all of them now are.
Women`s obsession with beautiful appearances is universal and goes beyond time. Of course, men`s obsession with beautiful women is also universal and goes beyond time too.

They totally do! But it is a bit different and isn't called "modeling..." It is seen more in Europe than in the US... Also, there are "retro" places popping up in the US and around the world to teach "poise, style and elegance." :)

Part of the reason is that at that time they were born female.
So regal, charming
Oh! The side eye from one of the rivals
This is a follow-up to my previous comment...When seeing lovely young women paired together doing an activity, in this case the ladies doing the bicycle kick exercise, although they may not be thinking it, their body language seems to be saying, "Let me kick my legs higher, longer, stronger, and better than anyone." Or, to the observer, it's the one who looks prettier doing it that stands out like a rose. Oh, what a joy!!!
SUPER
What a lovely group of girls...real women...I love the calisthenics they do at 0:34; they look gorgeous with their bicycle kicks, as if they are doing a routine together. Or, if they wanted to, they can go faster to see who can keep up with the other girls without getting tired to show who has the most stamina. The true strength of a woman who is athletic is my kind of girl.
Anymore of these schools exist? I need a class 🤣
Indeed... Women today (outside of the highest classes) are not trained for such things, I know that I would be ill-prepared for an encounter of the sort!
That first girl was like, why the heck am I doing this lol
Very beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
I find it interesting, that the closest thing to these models today, are the Victoria's Secret models; and yet, they are the most scolded of models, while people are praising these models in the comments. :) Mind you, I personally think these models seem pretty awesome, and I like the VS models as well. It is just interesting how differently they are perceived, when they really share a lot of similarities.

VS models are actually some of the healthiest models at the moment. They focus on healthy diet and exercise (believe it or not, they don't undereat or over exercise; they are just very disciplined and consistent with it.), good grooming and femininity. I don't understand the hate they get, they are actually promoting rather healthy lifestyles. I think it is the shape that is tricking your eye. Back then, the classic model figure was hourglass. There were more focus on curves, but they were no more than 10 pounds heavier than VS models, at the most. Today, the classic model have a more rectangular figure. I am guessing it became popular with the rise of feminism, since 'heroin chic' started around that time. Never understood the obsession with weight either. A healthy weight will depend entirely on your height and body composition, and muscles weigh more than fat. Why not bring out the best in your body, instead of beating it into something it is not? Every body can be attractive, if it is well taken care of. You can actually learn a lot from both these models, and the VS models on how to do this. :)

At that time they were all born female and had the skeletal and other anatomies of women including thighs which meet, hips as wide as the shoulders, heads which would fit across the shoulders only 2 to 2.5 times not 3 times, not such long limbs nor large feet and hands, and much else. They weren't m2f which almost all today are.

Hi 😊
LOL " For this is one of the country's most up to date training schools for Models and Mannequin."
I've been in a model school and i hate it... I wish model schools are like this in the 50's.. *sigh*
I would not assume, as one commentator did, that none of these models is anorexic or has some other eating/body dysphoria issue. One of them has a big bruise on her outer thigh. My sister was anorexic and bruises is a telling sign. Of course, the model-to-be might have bumped into something. But the bruising might be a sign of an underlying health problem.
Where to begin? I didn’t know mannequins were real people. Limbs will be effortlessly supple. The moving disembodied legs were hilarious. I love how the minute you turn 27 you’re out. The girl in the full blue dress, stumbled a bit when she tried to do the “rocking turn”. Those dresses are quite lovely when the girl has a little bit of swing to her hips when she walks. I’ve always wondered how to carry an umbrella without a “trace of awkwardness”. That wink at the end was a bit overdone. Haha. All in all still quite entertaining.

It's a *school* for models. That does not mean that the industry does not hire anyone over 26, it just means that it would not be generally advisable to start a modelling career when you're already 27 or older. Today they scout 12-14-year-olds...

Gosh, this is utterly unrelated to this video and a pathetic attempt of "grabbing one's goat." Yes, I have. Daily, since anyone who believes in equality is a feminist, most of them are well-mannered and beautiful. They may lack the elegance of previous decades but I think it is worth it for the sake of equality. I believe that once we've settled down and are truly equal many of the finer things will come back to us. Clearly, you do not agree...

Of course. Natural born females. That is our build because we need the extra fat in the lower region for growing babies and giving birth. Thus the shoulders being as wide as the shoulders and the curved back for the tilted pelvis that men don't have. Not the male to female models and celebs of later years.
wow their thighs weren't as thin as their shins.
i know a lot of these comments on this video are from years ago but these women in this video look similarly or even just as skinny as the models of today, and the modeling industry now (it's taking baby steps though so :/) is starting to be more inclusive of plus sized women, women of color, etc., and also nothing in this video brought up anything about feminists or feminism; if any of you felt the need to slander women in the name praising women of the past, not only do you have a personal problem, but you're probably a raging misogynist troll that has nothing better to do but troll in the yt comment section like a loser. anyways...

What if I told that maybe some of us are female? Guess what, some of us actually like the traditional and feminine lifestyle of the 50s. You need to get over the fact that not every women thinks like you since we don't need feminism anymore. We can decide on what we wear, what we eat,who we date, what careers we want etc.Why whine about something that you already have? News flash, not everything is about you,you grown spoiled brat.

They were slim, but not as thin as many models are today. Back then, it was more about having the right curves (hourglass), whereas the modern model tends to have more of a rectangular figure. The closest thing today would actually be Victorias Secret models, maybe +10 pounds. They tend to cast women with more curves/feminine figures than high fashion brands, and have a high focus on a good diet and the right exercises to shape the body.

Feminism has naught to do with that meller... There are many attractive TV/film women! Plus, the majority of feminists I know in everyday life (which are quite a few) are very well-mannered and fashionable. They're far from dour, angry or shrewish. That, per usual, is a gross overgeneralization...
