A Look Inside Andersonville's Prison Cemetery
During the 14 months Andersonville Prison existed, more than 45,000 Union soldiers were confined here. Of these, almost 13,000 died from disease, poor sanitation, malnutrition, overcrowding, or exposure to the elements.

Henry Lackie, 11th Vt Vol, grave # 11074. RIP.
I have a great uncle, W W. Beltz who died in Andersonville April 10 1964...... Of "Diarrhea". I wish I could have seen his grave when I visited. I was 10 at the time, in 1962. Even today I am overwhelmed by great sadness over this history.
Lived about 3.5 miles from there on watermelon rd. In a old house that was over a 100 years old back in 1993 I’m 35 now. I was glade to move from there, at night it was completely dark and I could here ppl running though the woods

The Raiders who were hanged are buried in a separate area. No flags are placed on their graves on the holidays they normally would be.
May their souls rest in peace
Either side of government didn't care about the prison.

Im curious of how accurate the yankee numbers are especially in Chicago prison. Most i believe come from no money to run the prison in the south
