I love the title track, one of my two or three favourites on the album; I think that angry/cynical side of George was a very integral part of who he was as an artist, and I appreciate it that he had that rebelious nature in him until the end (and I had always wished for more rocking songs on george solo albums, so very cool that his very last one was one of the few) ... and the indian outro is very, very touching for me, the first time I heard it I think I even had tears in my eyes (which i almost never have whilst listening to music)... it's my 4th favourite George Album (1. ATMP 2. LITMW 3. s/t)

I bought the CD (regular edition and a more deluxe version) soon after it was issued, gave it a listen and put it away. I think I was put off by the cover art and the title. I remember thinking that I wished George had finished it during his lifetime. Thanks to several discussions, like your’s, I’ve given the album a fresh listen and agree that it’s a fine album. So much for first impressions. Marwa Blues may be my favorite cut. Thank you for the interesting discussion!

Dhani Harrison had confirmed that there is a ‘ Cloud Nine ‘ boxset on the way. Brainwashed was a wonderful record to bookend Georges solo recording career. It’s certainly a personal favourite of mine and stacks up as one of his best albums.

a Cloud Nine box, but nothing for Living in the Material World, or the other 70's albums? I find it sad that his solo career has been reduced to his first post-Beatles album and his 80's comeback. Seems that's happening with all the Beatles AFTER the Beatles. John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine for John; Ram and Band on the Run for Paul; nothing for Ringo.

@@ronfowlermusic I have to totally agree with you. His 70’s albums ‘ Thirty three & 1/3 ‘ and ‘ George Harrison’ are gems making them worthy of super deluxe boxset treatment.

Fantastic discussion! "That Kind Of Woman" recorded by Clapton appeared on the "Nobody's Child - Romanian Angel Appeal" album in 1990. A charity album put together by Olivia and George for Romanian orphans.

Cut and dry. Im so sorry to say this was Georges absolute best. Im still listening to it. Its like having a great treat every time I hear it. Too bad many people have not heard it and never will. ATMP was truly mag....I even love the cover.

Magnificent album.

One of the best posthumous albums. With its release, George equaled the same number of studio albums released by The Beatles

Falling asleep is a perfectly reasonable reaction to Eric Clapton and his"music"....love "Any Road" and a couple of others on this record .....Peace and Love

Great chat gents. I'm very fond of this album as it's the only CD I ever won in a game of Pass the Parcel! Btw I used to share a flat with a bloke whose dad was a member of the George Formby fan club and he used to regularly rub shoulders with George at the Blackpool get-togethers.

I have this on cassette - one of the last albums to be released in that format. I keep thinking I should grab the vinyl someday; maybe the cover is what turns me off. The music is fine; it's not ingrained in me the way ATMP, LITMW, George Harrison *1979) or Gone Troppo (yes, I love that music criticized album) are. Strong songwriting, appropriately understated production.

This album was a very big deal coming to the stores. It was very highly spoken of I remember. The reason in part that Harrison was I’ll and this was to be the last album.

I love the title track, it's not negative, just very pertinent social comment, although I agree the album cover is a bit sh!t.

Bought the Deluxe CD that included the poster and guitar pick and like Double Fantasy was saddened by listening to it. Label didn’t promote this much, deserved a better fate. Album released later and has a extremely muddy mix. The whole project needed promotion but I guess. That Kind of Woman was recorded by guitarist Gary Moore.

Hi thanks for watching. We are not bashing it all. Yes there are tracks we don't like, but like I said at the end. I really enjoyed revisiting the album.

I'm with John on George's music I prefer his more optimistic music than his pissed off dreary and too preachy stuff. As for Brainwashed it's a solid album though I think it starts to run out of steam towards the end. The first seven tracks are great after that it loses me to be honest! Andrew you mentioned journolist Timothy White who worked for Rolling Stone, he's the guy who savaged Back To The Egg and Paul's music in 1979.
