Stars losing to Edmonton in 97 was the only time i cried over a sports game. I was a kid then. Dad scolded me for crying over a game. Never did it again. Still my most painful moment as a Stars fan. Plus i took great pleasure in seeing them knock out Edmonton every other future series after.

The Canucks journey this year has been fun and entertaining. Their team has character and is more interesting than they’ve been in years. Being a lifelong Canucks fan has taught me to enjoy the journey, savour the successes along the way, big or small. I will feel good regardless of what happens tomorrow, provided they go out there and hustle.

When a team is down 3-1 we act like the series is over, but when a series is tied at 2 it's anyones to win, and when it inevitably becomes 3-2 we don't go "ah it's over", so I'd be curious to see if there's actually a difference or not

I was in downtown Vancouver for the 2011 riot. I was attending a non-hockey related work event which was very poorly attended (because hockey), so all of the staff were forced to attend just to fill seats. They showed the game on a big screen during dinner, and then after the Canucks lost we had to listen to speech from Gordon Campbell (who had just left office), and then after the speech the hotel told us it wasn't safe to go outside. That wasn't the most fun night.

In terms of G7, I think it's gonna come down to two things for EDM. Actually showing up, and as always, their goal tending. If they let in 4 against Vancouver, there's little chance they will get 5 again. This team "should" have learned its lessons by now. This team should come out with the desperation befitting "cup or bust", as they claim to be. Objectively, I think EDM will win this, in a rather close game, and I would imagine it might be 4-2 with an EN. So, essentially, 3-2. I can't see a 1-0, or 2-1 snoozefest, as nerves will be high, mistakes will be made, and fatigue is showing in certain areas of both teams. That being said, I wouldn't be shocked in the least to see the opposite, and have it be 4-2 VAN with an EN. It's just that unpredictable, and that close. I can say this. I'm not too fanboyish, or cement headed to not get behind Vancouver for the rest of the playoffs, should they win. I will. Vancouver is far from a team I hate, and if they move on, I will be sitting next to the Vancouver fans who hate me right now. See you when the dust settles. 🍻

funny how the '11 Hawks/Canucks series is referred to as the 'nucks "slaying the dragon", when that dragon lost A LOT of its teeth in the off-season. Byfuglien, Ladd, Versteeg, Burish, Eager, Fraser, Madden (to a much lesser extent Niemi, even though we all know Crawford was always better); & even then, the Hawks probably win this if Bolland was healthy enough to start the series & not miss the first 3 games (all of which the 'nucks won). the record of the Hawks against the Canucks in the playoffs w/ Bolland in the lineup is 11-5. in those 16 games, he had 8 G's, 9 A's with a +8 rating. only bringing this up because i know that Dave Bolland is your favorite player, & you love remembering all of his playoff heroics against the 'nucks

I was angry too last night because being up 3-2 in series and then I thought first period game 6 was even but the way they played last 2 periods not showing up is unacceptable. If it was a close game and one where they showed up and played well then u can accept a loss but no show is a joke when your 1 win away from conference finals anyways they still have 1 more chance hopefully we can pull it off on our home ice

Shannon did it! Yes I was hoping he’d do this video. With my team out - VAN is the team I’m rotting for given my personal connection and love of that city. Last night was tough. I know the Canucks have a choppy history in Game 7s and I’m hoping they make some history tomorrow as a true underdog. I do think they might give Dallas fits. Not that EDM is some pushover - I just feel like DAL is a bad matchup for EDM.

Not trying to say I don’t like Alberta either folks - that province is fantastic but I got engaged to my now wife in Vancouver 20 years ago and I did it there because the backdrop and town is perfect for it. Though to be fair Banff and Jasper are not bad spots to do that either and even as an American I know these things - yeah Canada is just an awesome and unique place.

Love u Shannon, but cry as you may about Lafayette’s missed open shot… it was Karma for all of the disgustingly glaring missed calls by Greggson and the zebras. 1- two Obvious too many men on ice… possibly more 2- missed boarding / interference on Nemchinov creating scoring chance 3 - Courtnall’s high stick on Kevin Lowe 4 - and probably the worst of all.. Gelinas tripping Anderson and subsequent facial crosscheck. And that’s just the first period. I won’t continue but you get the idea. Keep up the good work and see you in the finals again!
