A Long Walk to Flour - No More

How do you get your flour? In rural Malawi, the process of making flour can be time and energy consuming, unless you have access to a maize mill, where maize (corn) is processed to flour within minutes. Without a maize mill, the task must be done by hand. Pamoza's maize mill in Zowe is one of the leading mills in the area; but due to mechanical breakdowns, the mill was inoperable for more than 6 months until a grant from the Rotary Club of Gig Harbor Washington made it possible to purchase new engines and new equipment. Now, community members no longer have to walk 2 - 3 hours to access shelling and milling services for their maize. Thank you so much to the Rotary Club of Gig Harbor and one of our donors for making these repairs possible.
