Hey Zepla, given the political upheaval that's happened recently in Seattle I'd suggest avoid coastal pacific northwest. If you want to live in Washington would suggest tri cities or spokane. They didn't see the chaos after election times last time, but we're coming up on mid-terms and it's likely to ramp up again. If you want peace and quiet, move inland. Even if it's just a 100 miles or so it'll make a diff.

Seattle is my home, I was born and raised here and truly love this city so while the circumstances aren't great at all, I'm happy at least that we can welcome you here! A few practical tips that may help as you look to move in!

I'm in the Seattle area. It is very beautiful in this area. A bit expensive in some areas, but besides that I love it. It doesn't rain as much as people say. And you do get a taste of all seasons throughout the year.

Damn, I'm literally moving out of Seattle after 12 years in mid-August. In either case, I highly recommend the Fremont/Wallingford area if you can afford it, though if not and if you're ok with a more suburban vibe, I'd recommend looking north of the city. Public transit isn't the best here but they're actively improving it with some light rail expansions. Either way I think you'll love it.
