Hey Isabelle ! I came across your channel randomly 1 year ago when I was panicking about my AS results. Sadly they weren't what I expected, and I deserved it cuz I didn't work hard at all. After I got my results I cried so much that it made something change inside of me. I promised myself to make an academic comeback this year. Your videos gave me so much motivation and I'm gonna be thankful for that forever ! Currently my A2 exams are going on, 4 days ago I sat for M1 and it went reallyyyyyy goood ! I also changed my work ethic alot and now dedicate most of my time studying effectively or giving mock exams. I find mock exams to be the most effective tool for success in A levels. I hope this time my results don't disappoint me again, I will keep on trying my best and leave the rest to God.

Hi i am in my last year sitting exam this June i will say watch youtube videos og cragdev and csbrown it will help you to understand basic concepts. After watching the videos do 1 or 2 exam practice start witg easy one then go to 4 ot 6 marks question so you don't get demotivated. Makesure you pre plan for ypur CS project for a2 as it is 20%of a level. Hope is useful i am doing aqa exam board what about you?

Hi! I definitely agree with what rudrachakraborty7896 said. Exactly the plan I would have come up. If you mocks are so close I would just bang out the revision and get memorising - lowkey there's a lot of content so it's gonna take a lot of time, but if you watch KZread videos and take notes, then get some exam practice in, it should stick with you so you have a slightly easier time next year :)

@yanr4n

The night before an exam, I liked to do some more relaxed studying methods (e.g. run through flashcards, watch some topic KZread videos). I would probably avoid doing past papers or anything like that the night before in case it doesn't go very well and you panic lol. Because I live in the countryside, I would go out into the garden in the evening to study, then go straight to bed at around 8pm. If you are able to stop studying before you go to bed I would definitely do that and take a bath or maybe cook a nice meal or something for a couple of hours to make sure your brain is calm so you can get a good night of sleep in

How did you revise for paper 3 physics section a practicals as it’s bit of a blurry area to revise .
@yanr4n
Ай бұрын
i HATED physics paper 3.a for exactly this reason i was like what do you want me to revise! i think it is a bit of a wilcard - the only thing you can do is make sure that you know the 12 required practicals inside out and hope that one of them comes up as a question (not the case for me last year unfortunately), or a very similar experiment comes up. that means make sure you can draw circuit diagrams, the graphs, risk assessments etc for each of them. the only other thing is just to make sure that you understand a lot of the "why?"s for the content in the textbook, which is really just general revision. and cross your fingers

hey, I was wondering I only have a couple days before my first exam, but I feel like I've been revising non-stop, so I've done all the papers like 3x and other exam boards multiple times too, kinda at a loss of what to do? Also any tips on finding montrosities of Pure Core Qs, 2023 paper's shaken me up lmao
@yanr4n
Ай бұрын
2023 paper was HELL that's the most stressed hour and a half ever. I would say that edexcel probably realised that paper was a bit too hard because the second paper was absolutely lush, so I wouldn't worry about something to that degree coming up. you've been revising MAJOR hard, so I would honestly back yourself to do well, even if the nerves are telling you otherwise. if something that tough does come up again the grade boundaries will reflect it, or the other papers will be easier. Best POA is normally to identify which topic it is, then write down all the formulas and do with them what you can and hope that either it starts to become clear in your mind or you've bagged a couple of marks for your waffle. now you're coming up to exams I would just do little bits of each topic everyday to make sure everything stays fresh in your mind and stay on the definitions, formulas etc every day too. I have nooo doubt that you're going to do incredibly!! Good luck 🙌🙌

Okay I'm a bit late for CS haha hope it went well! If you are incredibly locked in then achieving those top grades is within reach, particularly if there's one thing holding you back. For Maths, I would definitely try and get loads of practice in from the textbooks, starting with the bigger topics like Calculus and trig. You're going to have to put the time in for Maths as it's very skill based unfortunately you've got some long days ahead. For chemistry very similar story in terms of long hours. I would definitely bear in mind that it's very hard to 'bullshit' your way through the organic stuff so you'll need to go back to the textbook year 1 and make sure your organic fundamentals are very strong. Idk if it's the physics background that helps me a bit but I think the inorganic stuff is much easier to waffle through (although for the A* waffle probably won't cut most of it unfortunately 😔). Obviously you'll need to do lots of past psper revision too but I would probably focus on content first then do a past paper or two a day closer to the exams so you're giving yourself a more representative grade.
I had to wear several layers of a polyester uniform in a 32°C exam hall for maths last year😭convinced the ankle length kilt cost me marks. Great tips though!

@yanr4n

Hi! I don't have any knowledge about any of those subjects unfortunately, but I would always start past papers as soon as possible as there's no harm in it. Even if you've only revised for half a paper you could do half of one now ans the other half later otherwise when it gets close to exams you'll have to do loads of ppqs in a row and you'll probably get really tired of it (and then you may not perform in a way that represents your best). I'd definitely do a little bit everyday so the time doesn't slip away from you. Idk how your sixth form/college works exactly but I wouldn't worry majorly about the uni predicted grades - if you have a horror there may well be chances to retake in the autumn (schools want you to get the highest grade so they have the best uni portfolio) so definitely think of it more as a chance to solidify your year 1 knowledge so you're ready to put all your focus on the A-Level only content when you start Year 13 :)

5 weeks is honestly ages - you have totally got this!! Maybe spend the first couple of weeks running through the content and getting the basics firmly under your grasp, then start to integrate in past papers later on so you have time to get exam practice in without missing out on the content. Say you put in 3 hours a day thats still over 100 hours you have to push yourself!

Also, any random tips on how to save time in an exam? Like for A-level physics - time is so precious lmao
@yanr4n
Ай бұрын
I think the only way you're going to save enough time in the exam to make significant difference is by practicing past papers over and over again, but I appreciate that that isn't majorly helpful lol so some little things you can do are - Know your calculator well. You want to know how to get to all the menus etc and maybe do some research into some of the shortcuts (for example casio calculators have the physics constants in them so you don't need to type them) - Perhaps counterintuitively take your time in the exam. Obviously you can't work through at a major leisurely pace, but it's better to time the exam so that you finish with 5 mins to spare than 30. If you rush through and reach the end with plenty of time you'll likely go back and check and find loads of silly mistakes. In the time it takes you to reread the question, scan through, fix the mistake it would probably have been quicker to work through it slower the first time - For A-Level physics i would do the MCQs first because it'll warm up your brain and those are the quickest 'marks per minute' - Write in bullet points for long response questions, or just any question that has lines under it lol - When you read through a question for the first time (particularly the longer mark questions have some looong questions) highlight the key points so that when you're going back you don't have to read through the whole paragraph again
