It WAS that way in '77. I remember my father taking us all to the theater in the summer of '77, telling me (us) that 'this is the biggest movie of all time. EVERYBODY is seeing it'.

Very little advertising that I remember back in 77. All word of mouth and I was in line around the block in Hollywood at the Chinese theater. What has been done to Star Wars is very sad.
