Good inspection video. The engine would make a good series but I think the boiler is too far gone. These steam engines are always interesting and I appreciate your videos.

I would agree that the boiler is shall we say Toast. Leaving the owner in a jam. Still an interesting set up, is that a dual oscillating engine? Clearly, fixing that engine would be quite a bit of work. As you pointed out, new bearing surfaces, new packing and perhaps new rings on the piston.

The job is not at all practical and these things are frequently available via Ebay.

Unfortunately those Wilesco type engines with piston valve tend to wear out as opposed to slide valve that wear in. The last one of those that I was asked to repait was in similar shape to the one you showed. Not having to make a living on doing repairs I was able to give an evaluation for the price of a Coffee and Donut. The owner of the one I examined did take my advice and converted his model boat to electric power with a smoke generator hidden in the remains of the boiler shell, and a hidden electric motor driving the steam engine.

That boiler is a shocker.

I have that engine and a similair boiler from Krick in my modelboat too. It works a charm.

I Also don't have cladding on my boiler for the exact reason that it seems like a big fire hazard for this type of boilers construction

Internet? Internet? Let's see, OH ya, its that supposed service that quit working for me last night and was only restored about an hour ago. (10 hours) I was beginning to worry if I was going to be able to see "Mainsteam" today. All is not lost, I got my "Keith Appleton" fix, a bit later than usual, but that's OK. Ha, Ha. Neat and unusual video, That little steam engine could be restored. Boiler? I don't think so. To bad, I've never seen a model steam boat, let alone one in operation. ;-)

It was not worth doing the job for either me or the customer . . . .

Lovely little steam plant, I could be mistaken but it looks very much a homemade item possibly made from a collection of parts. Either way its in a very sorry state

I own a few case’s exactly just like that one that are made to hold telescope eyepieces from manufactures such as Celestron, Orion and Mead telescopes but that’s not to say that being made in China, they are also made to hold RC controllers too. Cheers”🔭😁👍

Humans can survive without electricity, at least until our batteries go flat t'internet is available on our phones. When t'internet goes out then all will be lost
