I mean considering what the constraints were it's pretty good. It works more like a animated comic than a full blown animation imo

Exactly! It was more like a motion comic.

it's really awesome Video. I think Judges were expecting voice overs or something that's why they gave thumbs down. But this process will soon create a professional Animation in future.

Thank you! I appreciate your comment and yes! I agree, this process will soon create professional animation in the future. About the judges' expectations, actually they said it was more like an animatic, or motion comic, and not so much an animation. If I had chosen a Motion Comic as a STANDARD, then I would've won, but where is the fun in that? I like big challenges :D (I don't like easy wins)

Can I ask, how long did it take you to complete this? If more time and effort was put it into it for example, could a full episode be created? With different characters, fights, speaking, etc? While keeping to the only using AI/digital art ofc

Yes, this feels more like animatic than animation. And comparing it to the cat's animation is too much. Because the cat animation was a real masterpiece, with hundreds of hours!

Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate your perspective on the difference between animatic and animation. Yes, that is also part of the feedback I got from the judges

The music seems to be a medieval version of "SEAL- Kiss From A Rose". The visuals look professional, but not the animation part.

It's really good with this constraints. I think for a trailer or something like that, it could be very interesting.

I thought the animation was pretty good, but I think you are asking the wrong question with the thumbs up and the thumbs down. I think you should do the same animation, one where you are allowed to draw and one where you are not allowed to draw. Then compare the two. Which one is better. That is more of a true comparison of whether drawing or not drawing is better.

Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate your suggestion and I'll definitely keep it in mind for future videos. I am already 100% convinced that drawing makes for way better animation - the thing is, it takes a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time, and not everybody can draw, so my challenge was to help my beginner students. But still, this is a very good idea for a future video. Would that be interesting to you? To compare an animation where I am allowed to draw vs one that I am not?

@@2DAnimation101 Yes, I want to see a video with drawings vs. not drawings. Drawing would probably win; however, comparing again in a year or so would be interesting. AI is advancing so rapidly that it is getting easier and easier to get AI to create the end product you had in your imagination. Who knows, it may one day exceed what you have in your imagination. Sometimes, it exceeds what I have imagined right now.

It's like movie scenes for video games from around 2000-2005. AI is developing very fast. So who knows what will be possible in few years

I really love this, whether its an animatic or animation. It really gives me hope because I don't have pro drawing skills. How many hours did it take to create this? I want to create something similar.

Thank you. I put a lot of time and effort into creating this, but it's all worth it when I see comments like yours. If I am not mistaken, I took around 2-3 weeks to create - a lot of it was because I was learning how to do it, I believe I would be able to do it faster. I spent around 1 week trying to get consinstency with the character design in MidJourney, now I know how to do it faster. Since you want to create something similar, would you be interested in joining a challenge for another KZread video where I have sessions with you like I did with Selva in this Video? If yes, please reach out to me to mdiaz@2danimation101.com with the subject line: "KZread COMMENT You told me to reach you about a challenge simiilar to Knight's Journey" and we could discuss it

Hi Mark, I've sent you a CTA file. I'm currently working on a short KZread video, and in your next webinar, you'll demonstrate how to create smooth facial expressions using my file. In this file, I've included detailed facial animation. Please provide me with your email.

I'm one of those people without drawing skills, and I for one am very grateful for AI, which allowed me to make a motion comic which won a CTA mini-contest. Knowing you do have the drawing talent, I think you were quite brave to take on this challenge. If I may make a comment: There isn't really a story. I feel if there had been one the result would have been better (who's the knight, what's his quest, what obstacles does he have to conquer, who's the girl ...?).

I'm really glad that AI technology exists too! It's amazing how it can help people tons of beginners who don't have drawing skills still create something cool. Thank you for your kind words and for recognizing the challenge. As for the storytelling, yes, you are right, there is so much more that could've been done, thanks for noticing that and for bringing it to my attention.
