We here in south Carolina make a jam out of figs. It last for a log time. We cut the figs into 4 pieces and add equal amount of sugar to as many cups of figs cook them until the mixture is thick but not real thick add 1/2 a limon to it before removing from the heat stirring it in really well. Jar up into glass jars with metal lids with rubber gasket around the rim and they jar has to be wiped clean before the lid and ring put on. Its very good with eggs ,porrage , and many other foods.
