Referring to her as the maid is not cool. Furthermore its only courteous to take her and the child back to her house instead of having her walk the way, it would have only taken him about 5 mins drive. ( this was distasteful). Calling her a maid is unfortunate and unforgivable. I am so glad she ended the work immediately and left. I hope she stays very busy building her life and improving her economic status that when he stops by where she lives, to see her, she is never home. She should go to the market twice per day going forward, and I also hope she can enroll her son in an early school to give him a jump start to a bright future.

Come to think of it, i dont think the house was too dirty for the old mother to return in, i think the young man wanted to spend time with the single mother. I dont believe that there's such laws, it's all a state of mind... people wanting to feel that they are better than other human beings. We are all the same, came into this world as a baby, and will die and be buried in the same size casket. There's another channel with Pham Thu and Officer Van Nam, and he is shredding this status quo to pieces, he is fight for the person he loves regardless of the status quo, he has moved out of his mother's house to stay with Pham in a Bamboo Hut with dirt floor and flooding because he want to be with the person he chose, not what his mother chose for him.
