A House Made of Concrete Inspired by Brazilian Modernism (House Tour)
Ойын-сауық
A house made of concrete inspired by Brazilian modernism, Mosman House designed by Shaun Lockyer Architects and built by County Construction stretches out across its coastal site in Sydney, capturing views of the water and of the landscape design by Dangar Barin Smith. A series of landscaped terraces through the site are experienced before one comes to the home, and as a house made of concrete, this emphasis on the landscape provides an important natural balance and juxtaposition to the strength of the building.
The architects’ interest in Brazilan modernism is expressed in the building’s long linear form and its material palette, which emphasises the raw and the natural. As a house made of concrete, the project required close collaboration between architect and builder. County Construction were responsible for the construction of the project, meticulously planning the concrete superstructure to ensure that every piece was perfectly in place before the concrete was poured. Timber formwork was used to create a textural ceiling, another process that required significant expertise on the part of the builders.
Balancing the linear form and raw materiality of the house, the ephemeral qualities of light and space bring the building to life. Mosman House by Shaun Lockyer Architects may be a house made from concrete that overtly expresses its Brazilian modernist inspiration, yet the movement of light over the concrete walls, the curated apertures that emphasise the primacy of the landscape, and the layering of the interiors all contribute to the project’s delicate balance of intimacy and extraversion, lightness and weight.

One thing I learnt from this channel, if you want your house to look majestic, build it with lots of glass openings

Step 1 though is: be really rich.
I’m Brazilian. This modernist concept is the heart of the architectonical identity of the capital of the country, Brasília. To see this ideas in the other side of the world as inspiration is amazing. Thanks 4 sharing!

I've watched probably around 20 videos from your channel today, and I have to say, this one had me emotionally involved. I saw the burning passion that goes behind architecture and construction. To be specific, when Rob Hart talked about driving by the house to show his grandchildren the house that he built years from now, I felt how proud he was of his contribution :')
Some of the most beautiful concrete work I have seen in a residential project...congrats to both the architect and builder.

And the owner
It's like an oyster, hard protective shell with lots of pearls inside. Just so beautiful and exquisite.
Coming from a cookie cutter 1970's residential development in Utah this channel has really opened my mind to the sheer creative beauty and uniqueness architecture can bring to a home.
I've seen many contemporary houses on youtube but this one tick everything that I found missing in other beautiful houses. What a killer view of the house from the street!
Another beautiful home - the concrete work in this project is phenomenal and it’s so great to hear the process from the builder. Well done Shaun and Rob, I’m sure the homeowners are VERY happy.
Im brazilian and this house really remember the modern concrete house we have here. ( ENG ) Sou Brasileiro e essa casa realmente lembra as casas modernas que nos temos por aqui. (PORTUGUES / BR )

This is my favorite house out of all the ones on this channel, mostly because of all the concrete. I want one just like this, but within my budget lol

What a stunning location and architecture to match! Another jewel added to the Sydney harbour foreshore.
This is a masterpiece of immaculate workmanship and detailing... AMAZING
The best thing that money can buy.
Brazilian architecture ❤️
The skylights in the bathroom gave me chills. Simply beautiful 😍
He's very eloquent! His descriptions and ideas are like a poem to the visuals.
Stunning. An incredible example of how all the elements of architecture have been brought together through an unbelievably detailed process. Bravo. That beautiful texture of the concrete! And that turquoise water against the rock - what an exquisite view. Loved the layered landscape and sculpture. “Theatre of light” 👌🏻 All executed by someone that deeply cared about the details of the design. Thanks for sharing!!

Such a windy day. Must've been lovely to be living in the impressive structure.

Just one thing... The workmanship is..... very very decent... love it...
Extremely hard work that last for centuries wow!
Incredible project - the details and finishes bring the bold concrete build together! And the video production beautifully communicates the home's story. Well done!
Es un proyecto hermoso. Una casa destacable en mi material preferido. Gracias
The board form is brilliant! Wonderful choice of building materials and colors. The kitchen, master bathroom, and living space downstairs are superb. =-) This is a true masterpiece. Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely magnificent..kudos to the brilliant builder and all the trades and to the Architect too obviously.
I wonder if they have scripts. Everyone is gorgeously articulate in their speech.

That's from the forms that the concrete is pour into
Raw, appealing, and modern design I'm all in.
The sum of the parts make this place truly amazing Gorgeous interiors and furnishings and lots of glass overlooking palms which give it that exotic feel. The palms and windows looking onto them make this place truly a notch above the rest
No cat videos for me! This channel is all I need on KZread. Excellent!!!!
The builder is the hero.
Absolutely beautiful design from an absolute fantastic architecture. This is who and what I aspire to be
Im so inspired by these videos! I have about a 5 million dollar budget but finding an architect that has a unique vision has been hard to find in west TX. I don't want a mansion I just want something unique and inspiring.
love everything about this house!
beautiful design, contemporary houses
Concrete job. It would have been super intense day and night!
The interiors are suberb and amazing. Now I see my house in here. Thanks for sharing!
It's beyond! So pretty! I also love the art on the walls
I'm a simple man; I see brazilian on the title, I click
Impressive work from these men.
I don't usually care for modern homes but this one is indeed stunning. Beautiful location as well.

The view ! Its all about the view.
i love the resort like vibes!
Sometimes I just want an architect to say we wanted to lay down some cool shit that doesn't look like anything else. Check it out bro.
Dream home! 😍
Essence of concrete is it looks man made....its hard with sharp corners...also easier on project management...totally controllable. Unlike buildings of the old....stonework...woodwork...builders have to work with variables all the time...but the final look...melds into nature and is forever soothing to the eye...very unfriendly to the cost ...but truly an enduring art....
Amazing to learn more about the collaboration between the architect, landscape designers, builder and interior designer.
Love the nature 😌
Splendid!
Love it!
Beautiful house!
It’s stunning 👌
Wowww😍
beautiful.
I love ❤️ it!
Magnifique 🤌
Amazing
Incredible
WOW, three thumbs up!!
Brazil❤️
Damn well done
Definitely made it on my list of best houses. The combination of location and integration with the location where there are so many rooms and terraces. And each one looks like it was theentire focus to make that area perfect by sacrificing elsewhere. Yet where are the sacrifices? The concrete and overall aesthetic design does exactly what it needs to: Establish a unique identity and feel while still being ultra high quality.
raw 😍
I am amazed that someone has so much money!
A beautiful built, but sadly the guy in the video talks about the various architects and builder, with no mention of engineers. One can't build a house like this or any buildings in the modern world for that matter without engineers! An exposed concrete house such as this would have required an equally talented and contributing structural engineer. Love your channel, been going through your videos, great houses and projects. But really, as much as I understand that it is an architectural channel, watching it one would get the impression that are engineers not needed at all for these builts :-(
The stairs... wow! #Punctum
Very rich...
God, is this beautiful
YES
It's astonishingly beautiful. but man, I would feeling like living in a exquisite furniture shop instead of home.
Gorgeous. I’d love to see a similar preformed concrete style for mass produced affordable housing.
hermoso
This is a Beautiful three story modern design house. Concrete inside walls is going to make it hard for renovation and modification.
Тоже такой хочу построить! 👍🏻
Just a stunning house. May I know what material is used on this house? Is it marble slab?
😍

Brazilian Modernism is big into concrete structures.
Lovely 😍, cost to design similar single floor?
чисто конкретный дом 😎🙂
You know. I really like a lot of the designs on this channel. But, I never really was a huge fan of just raw concrete in a house. And although this channel has shown me that in some ways and places it could maybe be more than I'd originally think and actually be really nice, I still can't beat the opinion that a lot of the houses are just too much concrete. Just, too much. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love some of the arcitectures and interiors. But, at some point it just takes away from the finesse and cozyness for me. Am I the only one in this?
