I train in traditional Moo Duk Kwan Tae Kwan Do.. Its funny because its EXACTLY like every Tang Soo Do video ive ever seen. We do Hungs and Taeguk, Kicks/punches. takedowns, self defense and Sparring (no Hogu, just kicks and chops), When fighting we look alot like TSD or kick Boxing 30-40% punching/60-70% kicking. Also we do not do competitions.. They are all.. ughhh just junk. We train in a martial art, NOT a sport. Great Vid!

Thank you!
Is Mr Strong from Florence, AL? I trained Tang Soo Do from 78-86 with Master Yong Ju Lee who was a student of Grandmaster Hwang Kee.
Loving these videos. I wasn't able to get access to test for Part 2. Thought it would be good to do in studying for my Deputy Black Belt test. May I have access?

My own TSD intstructor made no bones about that, saying that it was best to regard the art as a composite of GM Kee's experience and knowledge of Kung Fu, Shotokan & Traditional Korean arts. Its worth remembering that Korean arts were NOT an organised methodology until this century - much like JiuJitsu, before GM Kano codified it into Kodokan Jiu Jitsu - there were all sorts of factions, schools teaching a small amount of very specific techniques, and so on. Tang Soo Do was GM Kee's way of preserving what he knew of indigenous arts whilst using a solid proven framework...in this case Shotokan Karate HwarangDO is very similar, insomuch as it is a MODERN DAY INTERPRETATION of what traditional Korean Martial Arts were probably like. Its as much historical preservation as historical re-enactement. The HwarangDo masters have said as much Unlike Kuk Sool Wan, which is basically Hapkido & HwarangDo with some VERY tall tales about the GM travelling the length & breadth of Korea AS A CHILD(!) and not only finding old masters of long-thought gone systems, but them agreeing to teach him! 🤣
