Andrew G. Barto is a professor of computer science at University of Massachusetts Amherst, and chair of the department since January 2007. His main research area is reinforcement learning.

@ 15:57 If Samuel and Bellman "never talked", it would be great to know if anyone has the earliest reference that shows how the ideas of Samuel and Bellman got connected, maybe by a historical reference search tree of some kind. It seems, based on the recent "AI pause letter" (2023 CE), the implementation of this idea is, or may already have, a profound impact on our world, just hope that it is made for the better, and not it's opposite.
