My dad took me to one of their shows at NIU in the 70's! So much fun for a ten year old me kid.
As a child and teenager during the 60's and 70's, I loved watching the Globetrotters whenever they appeared on ABC's Wide World of Sports. Meadowlark was always my favorite...though I loved the whole team. What a remarkable gathering of talent they were during that time, and I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been witness to them at what might have been the height of their world-wide popularity. Thank you Meadowlark, for the incalculable happiness that you brought to everyone during your time here on Earth, and thanks to you, Mr. Winder, for putting together such a great remembrance of this truly legendary and truly loved man.
What a magical part of my childhood. RIP.
RIP Meadowlark Lemon. Thanks for all the great childhood memories.

Goodbye to one amazing showman & athlete, R.I.P Meadowlark Lemon
Meadowlark was a hero to a lot of us young lads in Liverpool back in the day. RIP great man.
RIP Meadowlark. You brought many a smile to my face as a kid.
Saw him a number of times in the 1960s, along with Curly Neal and the rest of the Harlem Globetrotters--such fun to watch. RIP, Meadowlark.
The ultimate showman. Thanks for the memories and your unique skills. R.I.P. Meadowlark.
Rest In Peace Meadowlark Lemon, Thanks for the memories.

R.I.P, another childhood hero leaves us xxx
My sincere sympathies to Meadowlark's family. He was extremely talented and entertained us for years, he won't be forgotten.
An entertainer from my childhood who sometimes defied the laws of physics. I feel sad and older now. Goodbye Mr. Lemon, Thank You.
RIP Meadowlark Lemon. You brought a lot of joy to this world. You are missed.
RIP Meadowlark Lemon! Awesome times growing up watching your tricks as a kid :-)
R.I.P. Meadowlark. One of the classiest men to ever grace any stage, anywhere.
I was able to see the Globetrotters live, in Detroit, in the 70's! What a treat it was.
What a joy to me as a kid. Even now as I watch older clips the value and talent displayed with ALL the Globetrotter teams is so vibrant. Meadowlark was my fave of course.
I think that the world owes Abe Saperstein a great big thank you for bringing the Harlem Globetrotters to the masses. Basketball was meant to be fun and this is the way that they played it!
Harlem Globetrotters best guys every played in basketball
God Bless Meadowlark Lemmons and the rest of the GlobeTrotters. Great people and awesome entertainers.
He brought joy into painful time and I thank him. God bless your soul, rest in peace brother!
Met him when my daughter was in Baystate Hospital in Springfield, MA and he was making the rounds, visiting the kids that were inpatients. I was still shell-shocked (they were suspecting that my daughter had a brain tumor...luckily, it turned out to be something much less threatening), but he was understanding and gave us a signed basketball. Good guy.
I was very lucky to meet you when u came to my school in 6th grade Meadowlark Lemon Rest In Power!
When I saw the meaning of a 'Meadowlark Lemon' on the urban dictionary, I was very surprised.

RIP thanks for the memories .
Some of my fondest and most innocent childhood memories involve my father taking me several times to watch Meadowlark, Geese, and Curly perform their magic. Meadowlark always enthralled me, and he actually sat down next to me courtside during one of his performances. Something I will never forget. Not only a good entertainer, but a good man too.
RIP Meadowlark Lemon I been a fan from childhood to my adulthood. I love the you man
That theme song brings back so many good memories! Thanks for the memories Meadowlark Lemon. Rest in Peace
Those guys were the pure masters of the long distance shot....
My 8th grade team played before the Trotters in 1961 at Paducah Tilghman in Paducah,Ky. Our team sat on the sidelines during their game. What a great memory.
Man that was uplifting. Love ❤️
Unless your heart is just full of hate, you cannot help but smile when watching ANY of the Harlem Globetrotters in action.
Thanks for sharing this Allen.
Wow I remember all of this as a kid.... what happened to them? everyone knew Meadowlark Lemon... he was a household name... once a year we'd go see the Globetrotters when they came to town... either school or boys club would take us.... those days are gone

Numis Mm No you’re just old. The Globetrotters still tour. They have a couple of teams so one team doesn’t have to play all the dates they are scheduled.
Goodnight, sweet Prince. Fondest memories for me....
I remember the meadowlark. When they played at our high school one year they were great! I wish I could go back and record them to watch over and ov6
Allen, your the man bro! Thanks for making this informative vid for us to see how great meadowlark was
In every field you always have one person who can never be surpassed Hear we have the basketball one
+Allen Winder; Thank YOU, so very much for sharing this with us. I was only going to 'sneak-a-peek' at this, but, once it started, the smile only face got stuck, and I couldn't take my eyes off it, and the happy feeling these men - yourself included - is still with me. Yes, I too was saddened to hear about Mr. Lemon (always loved his name), and, I came hear to see something - a totem, as it were, and I'm so happy I did. Laughter doesn't have a colour, and doesn't need a translation. A very happy, healthy new years,to you, and all the Harlem Globetrotters, past, present, and forever.
The Harlem Globetrotters made basketball fashionable, if you didn't have a basket to put the ball in you made one, legendary.
R.I.P. Meadowlark Lemon
RIP Meadowlark I will never forget you
RIP Meadowlark. :(
and still the greatest show on earth
R.I.P rest in piece lemon you were amazing
R.I.P. Meadowlark gone but never forgotten
And Meadowlark is gone. RIP, Big Man
Is there or will there ever be a documentary Worthy of Meadowlark Lemon's Accomplishments, because this wasn't it.However,it brought back alot of fond memories..!
R.I.P. Mr Lemon thanks for all the laughs Mr Winder
R.I.P. Meadowlark Lemon.
I agree meadowlark lemon lest we forget Fred ‘curly. Neal. Great sportsmen.i love the Globetrotters heros.
He's great at those made distances basket shots and etc like he can run good enough and take a leap and flight upwards towards the basket and then just throw the ball up when he comes lower from being up and make a basket shot. Wilt mentions him the most amazing basketball player but to me there's many but not many a lot of the number of basketball players that plays for the pros.
He is one of the coolest persons on the planet.
The fake out at 13:49 is pretty cool!
How many of you would watch them on Wide World of Sports? Times were a little softer back then in certain ways.
Quite possibly the very best MAN to every be on a basketball court professionally. He deserves a better video than this.
I bought some basketball cards of the globetrotters like reprints or new kinds but there were a number of them only left for a instance memorably item with a picture of them or some because I heard of them before then and later again and very little times watched their games before but it's because they play many games and of their skills ways to play of their routines too.
RIP Meadowlark Lemon
Rip Mr lemon, God bless your soul
RIP
R.I.P. good sir.
R.I.P. dude was a baller beating the lakers seems like not a big deal now but back then they were actually good
The original globe trotters came to my town back a while ago, several decades ago.... They used to be much more honorable, playing local teams and earning their own fame.
Classic
RIP, Meadowlark Lemon !

The only player in my opinion to over reach the wareness to the degree of basketball like Meadowlark Lemon is Earvin Magic Johnson they are two of the people Rember Magic being called Wallah and Meadowlark Lemon being call the clown prince of basketball Rember James Worthy said he don't think their will ever be a six 9 guard that will clown you while he humiliates you look at Ervin Magic Johnson clip's and Meadowlark Lemon clip's and watch both basketball awareness and how both are alike then different
I really wanted to watch this but the jarring repetitive music was just too much.
As a Jewish-American I loved how the old Globetrotters would humiliate their hapless white opponents...::giggle::

frankly a rather lacking "history." with just little bits n pieces and lacking in overall footage, esp from the 60s/70s "glory years" when they were so big. the "bucketeers" - ugh - the beginning of the end. oh well
Video starts at 5:44. 99% of what comes before that is borderline unbearable.
Hey I moved Larry brown a lot of stuff hot wife the electricians stole my tip Matthew novakoski
