I really want refines to not only have unique icons back, but just have wacky stuff that reflects the character regardless if it's meta-breaking or not, that's what the game is missing to be honest like look at Quan weapon good against everything except flyers. I need shit like that.

the problem is with a pvp focus game, those gimmicks end up not being good against the shit they give us cause that's just what works

@@gamemasterxtreme I dont think FEH is PvP focused at all. People keep making it as a pvp focused but its clear that FEH is ultimately all about appealing to people that just want to make strong units with big numbers and fanservice. thats why balance is so crazy.

Leila and Lucia are worth mentioning here, I think. Leila is still the only unit in the game with the built-in after-combat swap with her support partner (didn't even get it on her Thief alt), while Lucia hasn't shared her Special proc denial with anyone so far.

Not all that gimmicky, but Legenday Lyn had a pretty strange kit on launch. She had a somewhat offensive statline, but her weapon granted +3 Res and heavily relied on being close to allies. Her A skill only triggered on enemy phase, but she also had Desperation 3 for player phase. Like they had no idea what they wanted to do with her.

I really like the QOL update that lets you see what effects are currently active on a unit, makes keeping track of gimmick unit stuff way easier

Also, I don't know if anyones mentioned it, but the fact that they randomly dropped canto control on mikotos refine is so tragic. She was finally maybe useable..and then medeus happened lol

Maybe, but archetypes are usually used to denote that a selection of different characters fit into a similar mold. Like how we have Jeigans, Christmas Cavs, Ests, etc.

I hope that Xane is getting a great refine.

Because of the effects of Kempf’s weapon, I have a bit of a weird set-up on him: the usual Savage Blow and Poison Strike (the latter as an S seal), but his B-skill is WindSweep so he can actually survive against whoever he’s attacking. I know his best strength is the chip damage so I pretty much never rely on him for a knockout. Also I don’t know if she’s considered a gimmick, but I like Orochi’s weapon with the built-in Panic. Hopefully her refine comes in soon and gives guaranteed follow up, she’s a good green demote mage.

Oooh boi, I totally hope Halloween Xane gets a refine sometime soon. What kind of cool stuff could he get in there to make him relevant? "If Pestblem Ike is on enemy team, grants -win- to player" would be nice

Today I upgraded Thea to 5 stars, looked at her prf and got dumbfounded - grant bonuses based on number of dragonflowers given to a unit is the stupidest condition one could come up with. I eagerly await for a weapon that says "Grant bonuses based on amount of dollars you've spent on the game. If the currency you used is not dollars, calculate bonuses based on current exchange rate". That would at least be funny and in line with any damage calculations being impossible these days.

She's not the only unit with this gimmick, either. Farina, Malice, Hugh, and bride Anna all have it, too, and I was only willing to give the flowers to Anna because I like her.

@@Gracereza I don't have any of them, besides bride Anna, but she's a modern unit, so I didn't read the text. At least for the others, it kinda makes sense, since you recruit all of them (minus Anna) at least once using money, which is their main motivation, but why Thea?

​@@tommynguyen5450 Sure, but she's a mercenary to provide for her people, money is just a means to an end for her. My point is - out of all mercenaries in FE you could pick to have that effect, Thea makes one of the least sense to have it. Shanna, Noah and Zelot are also Illian mercenaries, and they don't have anything like that. And yeah, for Anna it makes sense - certainly more than her working for free in all of her mainline appearances.

Now I want an Oliver alt whose perf would give him global spectrum saviour for those units. Any other effects to make him broken when saviour occurs as well. Best thing, you could use him with brave Soren to have a broken far save. And he doesn't need to be armour.

Nemesis' OG DCS would have fit here. %DR based on ally HP, got it once per phase and otherwise got just A/D +2 for each ally with the conditions. But now it's huge %DR once per phase and good %DR the rest of the time, A/S/D/R +3 per ally, with +4 to that if the condition was met at all, +4 for greater than 25% HP on himself, Special Fighter and post-combat healing. Still dies to anything with %DR shredding. Could have used guaranteed follow-up and follow-up denial too, but we can't have everything. Now to wait for him to get an alt, maybe his Dark Emblem.

My favorite part about this series is the thumbnail images being taken from the "a day in the life" series

It may not be AS gimmicky as the ones listed here, but I feel like an honorable mention should be given to Limstella. Since to my knowledge, they're the only unit with the gimmick of damaging their own allies

Base Lif does the same thing. It’s hard to keep track of all these heroes though.

Lapis’ condition is actually really strong IMO. The idea is that she’s a galeforce beacon, and so her kit is mostly built around being able to initiate once and survive, and also debuff and chip damage. There’s no guarantee she’d be able to get the first kill (which is always hard for beacons ever since near saves were a thing) and so if she fails to kill, you still have the same action economy. It’s basically a backup effect rather than something you intentionally want to trigger.

Petrine went absolutely insane when fallen edelgard wrecked the meta on release since she was one of the easier units to build in order to counter her, i remember people building her specifically for that reason (since the only other beast effective unit was petra)

My pride and joy is my +10 fallen Muarim. A/S Finish 4, Special Spiral 4, TP4, Astra with Emblem Marth and support with Bridal Rafiel with Inf Pulse. If he's able to get his special off, he hits like a nuke. I just need some way to bypass effects like Lucia. You can make gimmicks work sometimes.

Not _that_ gimmicky but I like how original Loki's weapon gives a bunch of nerfs based on HP rather than Res or something. Whether it gives [Stall] or [Gravity] (as well as which stats it affects) is based on weapon range which is really weird. Obviously [Gravity] is better but [Stall] is still useful since there are so many units that give themselves extra movement for free, like Seliph and Bridal Sharena and certain Edelgards. For that I think she's the best-aged unit of her era, and definitely one of the better gimmicky ones.

Julius wasn't THAT bad when he came out. He was the o tl red unit who could shrug off Reinhardt, so that was something at least.

Iago's weapon especially pre refine fit his personality perfectly. He sits in the back and makes his allies do all the fighting while using cheap tricks to mess with the opponents. But once you get pass all his dirty tactics he's a sniveling coward that kind of sucks in a fight. So you'll probably beat him easily.

Riev still usable during turmoil season imo

So many of these GF support units would be better if they had a Fury effect or a Fury Status support. It's such a simple thing but IS refuses to give it away. I guess they want to keep GF a certain difficulty threshhold to sell units that make it easier (Edelgard, B!Sharena)

Petrine was my golden ticket against Fallen Edelgard during her reign of terror. Only reason I made her +10. Thank God Fallen Edelgard isn't in true meta anymore (still annoying to see from time to time)

While I can say that your gimmick has some merits here and there, one thing I like to point out is the Subscribe Flaw here. Like, I get that you want viewers to stick around and watch your videos, heck even I stick around to watch your take on the meta of the day or some wacly topic such as this, but when your audience has so many KZreadrs they subscribed to, their subscription feeds kind of gets cluttered and someday, they have to do a little "Spring Cleaning" here. And with KZread loving you enough to recommend you to folks who haven't subscribe to you, your meta isn't exactly foolproof here. And other folks can talk too, especially to this 'Mike' fellow you brought up, so you're not really offering anything new to the table aside from a new joke or two every once in a while. And while your jokes work now, as with all units in the past run of Fire Emblem Heroes, it will fall out soon and become irrelevant without some major love and care put into it. And while it does have it's flaws, I can safely say that you're still doing rather well in the meta, shortcomings and all. And if you keep putting the love and care into your meta to help survive in the current, overwhelming meta nowadays, I see no reason to change it. _(This is all a joke, please don't send the newest meta unit of the day my way. I will never survive a single strike from them...! DX)_
